Greetings fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities! I hope this Wednesday finds you all happy and well!

The old saying goes that "Curiosity killed the cat," but I think that's a bit too dramatic and dangerous... I'm definitely a curious cat but mostly my curiosity uncovers fascinating things, not danger!

A New Discovery?

Like this morning... I suddenly noticed something NEW on Hive-Engine: Cat Community Tokens!

Naturally, I had to investigate.

Well, if the token icon is anything to go by, it definitely does seem to be something to do with cats.

Looks like it has just been in existence for a couple of days, and not much happening. No web site given, no description.

The "Issuer" is an account named @rdkmedia who has been part of Hive since November 2018, but doesn't currently seem to be an active poster... although the account is definitely active.

So I tried a search among our communities... and didn't come up with anything new under the general reading of cat-related things.

Time to try a different approach...

Fortunately, Hive offers lots of investigative tools... let's see where the issued tokens are. Not much there — my own PAL alt account... and several people who post cat content seem to have been gifted a single token.

The only other common connection seems to be German language.

Which essentially leaves us with little more than speculation, which (for me) takes a couple of possible directions:

One, there might be a new cat related community in the making, with its own token. That would be pretty cool! Not sure how @fraenk (creator of the original CAT token) would feel about it... but cat content is pretty damn popular online!

Two, given the issuer's evident involvement in gaming, maybe there's a "Hive version" of something like "Crypto Kitties" in the making, and the "Cat Community" would refer to the community of users playing that game, once it were released.

But who knows? For the moment, I guess all we can do is wait and see!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the recently formed Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
