Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here on Hive.
The exchange of customs and the experience you gain from traveling abroad (even virtually) can give you life-long personal benefits. It can open your mind to cultures, unlike your own and give you a greater appreciation for them. I have a great curiosity to see the world and this has offered a great opportunity to see what it is like to barter for vegetables at the market or buying a cow to provide milk for the family. Differences, and much the same. You will shop in places you have never been to, and some, never even heard of. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping, whether it be the grocery store, marketplace, art galleries, wherever money is exchanged for a service, or for merchandise. Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle somewhere in your post.
We have gone places like the beautiful island of Bonaire. A Dutch municipality located just off the coast of Venezuela, it is a surfer's and diver's paradise and for those that have a love for nature. We had fun and I promise we'll go back again sometime!
I have brought you to an ice cream stand called Swirlies, where we sampled a dozen different frozen treats. Yummy, delicious!
STOP!! BRAIN TEASER AHEAD!!
Question:A sundial has the fewest moving parts of any timepiece. Which has the most?
Answer! Can you guess??? Answer: An hourglass—It has thousands of grains of sand.
I had a post about the ship I was on, showing off some of the different things they have on board. One of the things that I enjoy going to is their art gallery. A variety of artists are shown off and several art auctions are held, usually on sea days when they have a captive audience. A sea day is a day where you sail, but do not stop at any port, so you are on board all day. I find it very relaxing to just lay by the pool and drink something with a colorful paper umbrella, but, that is just me.
So, grab a bid card, find a chair and let's peruse this auction, to see what we can see. Signal the waiter with your hand and he will bring us some champagne. We can't bid properly without a little bit of bubbly, right? Let's take a walk through to check out what they will be showing today.
While these auctions are a fun way to spend time while on the ship, it should be pointed out that art is one of those things that make a poor investment, so always make sure that you love what you are buying. It could make a good investment, but, you should never count on it.
I have taken you to museums, air shows, parks to take a leisurely walk with the family, markets for food, picking strawberries... and you have been along with your own. I know this post is rather eclectic, but, only for tonight. Below, please take a look at the guidelines for #MarketFriday. I would really appreciate it.
