How are you all my dear friends? I hope you are all well. In today's post I have shared with you Photographs of picturesque mountains. The photographs were captured on camera during a visit to Khardung la Pass during a Ladakh trek. The area is endowed with mountain beauty.
You can also call Khardung La as Khardung Pass because in Tibetan language La means pass (passage). Khardung La is a hill pass located in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Local residents call it Khardzang La in the colloquial language there.
This road to the Ladakh border is in the north of the capital Leh, which is also the gateway to the Shyok and Nubra hill areas. Siachen Glacier is situated in the latter part of it. Made in the year 1976, this pass was opened to the general public in the year 1988. Since then many vehicles, motorcycles, mountain biking rallies can be seen passing through here.
Under the supervision of the Border Roads Organization, this pass is very important for India because it is only through this pass that goods are transported to the Siachen Glacier.
The height of Khardung La is recorded at 5359 meters, but it is claimed by the local summit and dozens of shops there that its height is around 5602 meters, which is the highest in the world, the passage of vehicles.
Khardung La is historically important as it is the route of the main caravans of India that go from Leh to Kashgar (Central Asia). Once a year, a caravan of about 10,000 horses and camels can be seen passing by here. War goods were also transported to China through this route during World War II.
Leh, the largest city near Khardung La, is the capital of Ladakh. Leh can be reached via Manali and Srinagar or daily air travel from Delhi to Leh is also available. Then from their bus facility is available till Nubra Valley which goes through Khardung La. Here you can also go by booking a private vehicle or motorcycle from Leh.
