Plant Photography | The Flowers of Sonchus oleraceus

I could find this plant easily around my villa in Gayo Highland. I was curious of its name and its possible use for food or medicine. A few days ago I decided to capture its flowers. And then I started searching its name through PlantNet app and found it as Sonchus oleraceus.

As I wanted to know more about the plant and its flowers, then I was browsing on google and found complete information about it on wikipedia.

And you know, I was surprised that the young leaves of Sonchus oleraceus could be eaten as salad or cooked like spinach. Even, it’s one of plants used in Chinese cuisine as kŭcài (苦菜; lit. bitter vegetable).Wikipedia

However, I am not sure if I want to try eating them. As none in my village ever tried it, so I don’t want to to take a risk eating them unless a study has been conducted regarding its use and contents.
