My Travel Experience To Wamba Local Government In Nasarawa

Hi all!

Oh, I have been reluctant to share this for over two months now - probably because of my consistent in making drawings which is what I love doing.

I took these shots when I visited a friend who traveled back to his locality - Wamba. They were observing and paying tribute to their father who passed out some years ago.

I asked the guy who invited us why they do it and he said his dad told them to do so when he's gone. It's been 8 years he died and they do it almost every year. One of the activities they did was to sing and dance round his grave.

The inscription on some of their customized cloth read "7th year remembrance day."

The image below shows the track we followed to the place. That pillar there is a boundary demarcating two villages. It was actually a long journey that lasted for about 30 minutes from a close town.

But before we got to the boundary, there was a bridge we crossed. It has a little was passing through it with so many rocks.

On reaching there, the ceremony has not commenced so we had to wait a bit and decided to use that opportunity to tour around. The place is actually an interior village with so many rocks and hills.
This one below was the closest to the venue so my friend and I decided to climb it.

There goes my friend climbing up while I watched him.

Then he got there, up and far away with his right hand up.

I joined him and took some shots as I reached the top. There were two family houses close to hill. Exactly the nature of a village setting.

Here's a closer view of one of the houses from the hill.

While we were there, the traditional drummers and musician started dressing up.

...I left my friend there, stepped down from the hill and headed to location where the event was taking place to fill my eyes and ears with wonders.

I took some shots while they were singing and dancing. But I was a bit late cause they have danced round the grave already.

The leader of the group is in the center with the drummers while the dancers - especially those with uniform are dancing round.

A few of those without uniform joined them as well while others stood still to watch with amazement.

At first, while I was on the hill, I thought those with sports wears were dressing up to play football, only to realized they were preparing to dance.

It was so unfurtunate I couldn't comprehend a single thing from what they were singing but it was fun to listen to songs as they rhythm along with the drums.

Thay are dancing to the tune and rhythm of the music played by the drummers and group leader. The drummers made use of traditional instruments.

Things like this usually attract people's attention. Every one around there showed up - both the young and adults and even little children. You can see an old woman with a stick approaching the dancung stage in the first photo.

Few hours later, I signaled my friend so we could leave before dawn sets in. The event didn't start on time and we couldn't wait for everything to be done. We left.
It was a fantastic experience all together.
