Here be a scene I found a couple of days ago and I took advantage of...slightly.
Camera Settings:
Aperture F 5.6, Shutter Speed 1/200 sec., ISO 100, Focal Length 40 mm.
Now, coming out of a school of Photo Journalism, I have this standardized response to anything I shoot (almost). It's...get close up and personal. Ask individual participants about their stories. Find the details and expose them on the background of...well, the background is the background.
Camera Settings:
Aperture F 5.6, Shutter Speed 1/320 sec., ISO 100, Focal Length 16 mm.
You see the same tree from the first picture appear in the second one? Blurred and much smaller, though.
That's typical for getting up close and personal and then...
Widening the angle, zooming out...getting that Focal Length number down from 40 mm to 16 mm in this case.
This was just an example from my recent practice.
