Kathmandu is very safe to visit during Night. There is a low rate of crime in this city. But one should always take cautions while walking. I was on a bike during this time and this is also one of the secure place to visit at night because there is police headquarter nearby and a traffic checkpost where police are doing their jobs 24/7. The temple goes by the name Naxal Bhagwati. It is situated along the side of one of the popular and busiest street of Kathmandu. The temple is dedicated to goddess Durga. Durga is known as the goddess of energy, strength and protection. Durga is a beautiful goddess often known for defeating demons. Bhagwati defeated a demon during a battle and everyone revered her as an avatar of Durga. She is the ninth avatar of the same goddess. So it has been widely believed that visiting and worshipping here protects you from bad evil forces.
The temple was crowded during the festival of Dashain that just ended a week back. It was built during fifth century during the reign of Licchhavi dynasty. It was during the same period where arts and crafts had flourished during ancient Nepal. The temple is constructed in pagoda style.
