At the beginning of july we had my sister-in-law as guest and we took the opportunity to share with her our pleasure of cycling through our beautiful country roads.
So we took the car and loaded the three bikes in the back of the boot onto a bike rack, and off we went to Savoie, where we started our 50 km tour through the wine villages in particular.
This is the gourmet stopover we made in the picturesque little town of Chanaz that I will share with you in this post 😊
if you want to see Chanaz from the other side, go to this post I wrote 3 months ago and enjoy the bike ride along the Rhone
this charming village is located in the Savoie department, and it is crossed by the Savière canal, which earned it, like Annecy, a nickname related to Venice, La Petite Venise savoyarde
the Savières canal has its source in Lake Bourget and flows into the Rhône just after passing through this village
A very picturesque flea market
If you like to hunt around some unusual antiques, you are at the right place
Here you can really find everything, the merchandise is very varied and the place has a retro charm that perfectly suits the goods proposed to all lovers of antiques 😊
On this green board they offer you to buy your trinkets, old toys, vinyl records, old watches, mopeds, postcards, military objects, silverware…
For the youngest who might wonder what this object against the wall called "cabine téléphonique" (telephone booth) is,
well it is the ancestor of your smartphone ...😁
yes, we put coins in the machine and we stayed in a tiny booth to talk to our friends or parents, while other people waited outside the booth moaning you really had to go out now😄
You might even be interested by owning an armor to go fight some dragons, who knows ..?
I told you you were at the right place 😁
quaint alleys and shops
We had time free before settling down at the restaurant to eat
because there were lot of people and no table available for a good half hour, so we took the opportunity to visit the village a bit and in particular we went through these little alleys where I took these few photos
The name of this shop is roughly "the littles rascals"😄
finally, the restaurant!
Chanaz was our replenishing point after 30 km of cycling on the beautiful winding and sometimes steep roads through the wine villages,
and we spotted this restaurant which offered us a nice and well-deserved shaded place to enjoy a delicious meal…
We had such a pleasant time here in Chanaz, and all along the whole day riding on the beautiful little roads for a 50 km lap…!
Such a #beautifulsunday with a wonderful weather to go along, this will for sure makes lovely lasting memories 😊
