Today, I would like to share pictures of my only encounter with crocodiles. In 2014, while traveling in Vietnam, I visited the Yang Bay Eco Park located near the Nha Trang resort city. There is a crocodile farm in the park. On the day I took these pictures, the crocodiles behaved like professional models — almost all of them were motionless. As I found out later, some of them were just sleeping (because they were full).

Сегодня я хотел бы поделиться фотографиями единственной моей в жизни встречи с крокодилами. В 2014 году, путешествуя по Вьетнаму, я посетил эко-парк Янг Бэй, расположенный недалеко от курорта Нячанг. В парке находится крокодиловая ферма. В тот день, когда я сделал эти фотографии, крокодилы вели себя как профессиональные фотомодели — почти все они были неподвижны. Как я узнал позднее, некоторые из них просто спали (потому что были сытые).
Let me tell you some interesting facts about crocodiles which I learned about during the preparation of this post. The first: crocodiles swallow small stones to improve digestion. The stones, remaining in the crocodile's stomach for years, help to grind food. The second: crocodiles often sleep with their mouths open, and they open it in order to cool down (because they do not sweat). The third, most interesting fact: the temperature of a crocodile's egg determines its future sex — at 31 degrees Celsius, a male hatches from an egg, in any other case, a female.
Позвольте рассказать несколько интересных фактов о крокодилах, о которых я узнал во время подготовки этого поста. Первое, крокодилы глотают небольшие камни, чтобы улучшить пищеварение. Камни помогают перемалывать пищу, оставаясь в желудке крокодила годами. Второе, крокодилы часто спят с открытым ртом, а открывают они его для того, чтобы остыть, потому что не потеют. Ну и третий, самый интересный факт: температура яйца крокодила определяет его будущий пол — при 31-ом градусе Цельсия из яйца вылупливается самец, в любом другом случае самка.
Very interesting reptiles, really. I shot them from afar with a 300mm telephoto lens. They say a well-fed crocodile is not a dangerous crocodile, but I didn't really want to check it.

Интересные рептилии, правда. Я снимал их издалека, на телевик 300мм. Говорят, сытый крокодил — не опасный крокодил, но проверять это мне не хотелось.
