Hello, internet people! I hope you are feeling well today. Those who know me, know that among my musical preferences is Kpop, and today I come to tell you about a gem of a song belonging to this genre, it's "Be" by Eunhyuk. Keep reading if you are curious about why I defined it this way.
Eunhyuk es un cantante veterano de segunda generación del Kpop, perteneciente a la agrupación Super Junior y también a la Subdivisión D&E, la cual acaba de cumplir su aniversario número 10, por lo que sacaron un nuevo disco muy especial y celebraron su aniversario a lo grande.
Eunhyuk is a second-generation veteran singer of Kpop, belonging to Super Junior band and also D&E Subdivision, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary, so they released a very special new album and celebrated their anniversary in style.
Con este nuevo concepto, ambos integrantes pensaron en hacer un par de canciones por su cuenta (como solistas) es así como Donghae nos trajo California Love (muy buena por cierto) y Eunhyuk (el protagonista del post de hoy) nos trajo Be.
With this new concept, both members thought of making a couple of songs on their own (as solo artists), that's how Donghae brought us "California Love" (very good by the way) and Eunhyuk (the protagonist of today's post) brought us "Be".
Be aunque pueda sonarnos a un canción de romance, en realidad es una canción que Eunhyuk escribió para sí mismo. En la letra, le habla a su yo de niño, disculpándose por las cosas que podía haber hecho de otra manera y así evitarle a ambos momentos de dolor.
Be although it may sound like a romance song, it's actually a song that Eunhyuk wrote for himself. In the lyrics, he talks to his childhood self apologizing for the things he could have done differently and thus sparing them both monument of pain.
La canción toma más sentido cuando se ve junto al MV (el video musical) ya que se aprecia el paralelismo entre un Eunhyuk adulto y uno niño, a través de un espejo, el cuál ambos pueden atravesar y cambiar de lugar.
The song makes more sense when viewed together with the MV (the music video) as you can see the parallelism between an adult Eunhyuk and a Eunhyuk child through a mirror, which both can pass through and change places.
También se aprecian planos donde él escapa de la luz, camina docilmente hacia la oscuridad o cae en picada al vacío, reflejo de todas las veces por las que tuvo que atravesar momentos de dificultades y hundirse en un pozo oscuro antes de poder surgir a la luz.
There are also shots where he escapes from the light, walks docilely into the darkness or plummets into the void, reflecting all the times he had to go through moments of hardship and sink into a dark pit before he could emerge into the light.
La canción tiene un ritmo suave y relajante. La interpretación de Eunhyuk es casi todo piano y falcetes, y dado a su tono suave y sedoso, hace de la canción, una pieza hermosa.
The song has a soft and soothing rhythm. Eunhyuk's performance is almost all piano and skirts and given his silky smooth tone, it makes the song a beautiful piece.
Asímismo, al ser el bailarín principal de Super Junior, sabía que la coreografía iba a ser excelsa. Eunhyuk muestra movimientos sutiles, claramente inspirados en el ballet y la expresión corporal, haciendo de la ejecusión algo más artístico visualmente. Es una representación corporal e interpretativa de una búsqueda de «algo» perdido (su niñez) ya que en varios de sus movimientos, se aprecia como estira las manos sutilmente tratando de alcanzar algo que finalmente no logra tomar.
Also, being the lead dancer of "Super Junior", I knew the choreography would be superb. Eunhyuk shows subtle movements, clearly inspired by ballet and body expression, making the performance more visually artistic. It's a bodily and interpretative representation of a search for "something" lost (his childhood) as in several of his movements, he subtly stretches out his hands, trying to reach for something that he ultimately fails to grab.
El mensaje final que deja el cantante es «Un niño quién no sabía que fue un adulto» un claro mensaje de la pérdida de su niñez, un reflejo de que cuando era niño, tuvo que tomar entre sus manos deciciones y pasar por momentos que le competían a un adulto. Eunhyuk escribió esta canción para un niño que tuvo que madurar y crecer de golpe, que tuvo que convertirse aún sin saberlo, en un dulto. Escribió esta canción para él mismo.
The final message that the singer leaves is "A child who didn't know he was an adult" a clear message of the loss of his childhood, a reflection that as a child he had to take into his hands decisions and go through moments that were for an adult. Eunhyuk wrote this song for a child who had to mature and grow up all of a sudden, who had to become adult without knowing it. He wrote this song for himself.
No sé que les haya parecido a ustedes, pero a mi en lo personal me ha encantado, cuidó cada detalle dentro de los componentes de esta pieza audiovisual que es imposible no apreciarla.
