The Road to Recovery: My Actifit Report Card

first workout after recovery

The past three weeks, I caught flu-like symptoms. I had fever, stuffy nose, body fatigue and loss of sense of smell and taste. We highly suspected that it was COVID-19. Thankfully, it was only mild. We did online consultation and the doctors directed us to drink our meds, do home isolation and drink lots of vitamin C. Even though the symptoms were mild, it was unlike the common flu. When we get the flu, symptoms usually last 2-3 days, and after medication, we would be back to normal again. This time, it took two weeks to fully feel like myself again.

a new dawn

The fever lasted for two days and after that, body fatigue and the loss of the two senses followed. I realized that I lost my sense of smell when I placed a lumpia (spring roll) near my nose and I couldn't get a whiff of its familiar oily scent. Food was also hard to eat since I could only get hints of its overarching taste like saltiness and sweetness sans the other tastes in between. I found myself sleeping all day and even so, I still wake up tired.

After medication and rest, the fatigue slowly went away. My energy levels were erratic. One day, I was high energy, the next I was back to feeling weak.

COVID-19 facilities in the island of Lapu-Lapu

Today, I'm happy to say that I'm feeling better and got my first dose of vaccine yesterday. I had the energy to do my first workout after getting sick and we happened to pass by this recovery facility in another city. If recovery facilities in my city were this nice, I'm sure recovery would have been faster.

met new people and had a great time

I woke up today feeling excited to do my activities again. I hope the road to full recovery is not a super bumpy one so I can share more stories with you guys.

Thank you for reading all the way through! Keep moving!
