My Actifit Report Card and Update: September 2 2022

Hi Everyone,

Feels like a lot has happened this week. I posted 3 times, assembled a concrete fountain, and did an escape room activity. Tonight I'm going to the cinema and tomorrow is Jurassic Live. Also, the council are not picking up rubbish. Their employees are on strike until they receive a pay rise.

Yesterday's activity counts were obtained performing mostly mundane tasks. Friday is grocery shopping day. We did the regular grocery shopping plus bought some additional items. We got some things for the garden and storage boxes for excess materials. We also needed to get Hamlet the Happy Pig and Lily Goat more of their special muesli. I gave Mango the Dog his usual walks and I attempted to waterproof the fountain. Other than that, it was just regular tasks.

The 7-week Challenge Series is still going strong. Participation has been great. Looks like another challenge will reach 12 participants.

This week, I started Challenge 5: Make Me Happy. This is a fairly complex challenge. Participants are required to select 1 of 5 characters. For this character, participants are required to maximise his or her happiness. They are required to allocate a week (168 hours) to activities that provide their selected character with happiness. Some activities cost money. Therefore, participants need to dedicate enough hours to generating income to cover activity costs and general expenses. Hours also need to be dedicated to sleep. There is an almost infinite number of ways participants can allocate time to activities. I look forward to seeing what they do.

The results for Challenge 2: Buying and Selling Game (Business Version) were posted. This challenge was close. We had several participants with high profits and within about $50 of each other. This is the closest challenge or contest I've ever held. Looks like more participants are close to mastering this game.

Next week, Challenge 6: Buying and Selling Game (Original Version) will begin. The results of Challenge 3: Tax Game will be announced as we move closer to determining an overall Challenge Series winner. It is not too late get involved. Challenge 5 is still going and Challenges 6 and 7 are still to begin.

In my third post, I returned to my economics content. I wasn't planning on writing another economics post until the end of the Challenge Series but circumstances compelled me to write something. Many countries in the world are experiencing what is being called a "cost of living crisis". Prices are rising sharply and people do not have sufficient wealth or disposable income to maintain their desired standard of living. The post discusses how most people did not become wealthier during the many years of economic boom. Spending and debt continued to rise while real incomes remained close to stagnant.

The current crisis was going to happen eventually but has been triggered by Government policy. Governments shutdown their economies and replaced incomes with handouts. This was followed by policies to restrict the operations of businesses. At the same, money machines were printing massive amounts of money to cover costs. Low demand temporally prevented inflation. When economies were finally allowed to operate, inflation kicked in quickly.

After the lockdowns, came the war in Ukraine. Western Governments choose to punish their own people with sanctions, which has added to both inflation and supply chain problems. On top of that, there will be food shortages as crops are being destroyed or not delivered. The world is in a mess.

That wraps up this Actifit Report and Update. I hope everyone has a good weekend and productive week. If you have time, head over to challenges. You might have fun and win some Hive.
