La Euphorbia pulcherrina, es simbolo mundial de la navidad, como varios de sus nombres populares lo indican Flor de Navidad, Flor de Nochebuena, Flor de Pascua, entre otras razones por su alegre y exótico colorido, siendo muy utilizada en la decoración de interiores y exterior, teniéndose cientos de variedades de esta especie con flores de distintos colores, rojas, rosado, salmón, verdes, blancas.

Uno de los nombres con la que se conoce la Euphorbia pulcherrina, es "poinsettia”, en honor al ministro de los Estados Unidos de Norte América Joel Roberts Poinsett, quien encontró esta planta en Taxco, Guerrero (México), quedó fascinado por su belleza y la envió al jardín botánico Bartram, en su país de origen, siendo exhibida a principios del siglo dieciocho con gran exito. Esta planta representa un aporte muy importante de México a la horticultura global y local.

One of the names with which the Euphorbia pulcherrina is known, is "poinsettia", in honor of the minister of the United States of America Joel Roberts Poinsett, who found this plant in Taxco, Guerrero (México), was fascinated by its beauty and sent it to the Bartram botanical garden, in his country of origin, being exhibited at the beginning of the eighteenth century with great success. This plant represents a very important contribution of México to global and local horticulture.

Generalmente la Flor de Navidad se cultiva en macetas, con cuidados especiales, y en ambientes controlados de temperatura, humedad e incidencia solar, sin embargo también puede crecer como arbusto de mayor tamaño en jardines exteriores, alcanzando hasta tres metros de altura, si el clima es idóneo, floreciendo a finales de año entre los meses de agosto a diciembre.

Generally the Christmas Flower is grown in pots, with special care, and in controlled environments of temperature, humidity and solar incidence, however it can also grow as a larger shrub in outdoor gardens, reaching up to three meters high, if the climate is ideal, blooming at the end of the year between the months of August and December
