As a community, sometimes, we struggle with engagement. It is a strange word. It is hard to define for most people. However, for this social network and in this community in general, we believe engagement means relationship. It means knowing people personally. To a lot of people, this can be a difficult concept. How to do it? Why do it? Is it safe? These are the obvious questions that come to mind.

What I recommend in this case, instead of being worried about privacy or having concerns related to "what people will think if I say that," if we are genuinely interested in people, usually people will be interested in us. Simply because human beings are curious creatures. The fact that you are here for whatever reason means you have taken a certain leap of faith. This small community or the more significant community of Hive is welcoming. People are mostly friendly, and they want to help you succeed in whatever you like to be. If you just forget about your personal gain for a moment and put your 'fun hat' on and talk to people, I assure you, personal growth (read, financial gain) will follow.

"It is surprising how much you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit."--Abraham Lincoln

That is an incredibly simple statement, but it is exceedingly difficult to execute. We are often proud people. Also, many of us from this community are from the developing world. That means we are used to the following things:

1. Population pressure
2. Competition
3. Grass-root level corruption

These three elements together almost guarantee that we will always think about the cost-benefit ratio. Meaning; "I will do it, what do I gain from it." A little bit of it is healthy. However, if we think about it at every stage of the way, it is a simple way of taking 'fun' out of the equation.
Getting back to the 'rules of engagement' in the community and Hive in general:

  1. Read fellow hivean's post
  2. Take a genuine interest in the content and put some constructive comment (don't say 'nice post')
  3. Do that on multiple posts every day, in various communities; that will build your network
  4. When someone comments, don't say, "thanks for your positive compliment." That's an easy way to point out that you are a moron! 😊. Again, take an interest in that comment and try to write something meaningful as you are making a real conversation. Think about, if you say that to your mom, dad, wife, sister, brother, friend…. How will they react!
  5. Answer each comment and answer comments on comments, and try to say the last word
  6. Think about your own blog. Is it attractive to a broader audience? What can you do better? Is it the same content you are repeatedly churning? (that is milking)
  7. Why are you writing manuals? Try writing a blog…

If you do all that, I guarantee that your content and network will improve. Your earning will improve, and you will have a more fun time at Hive.

This Week's Feature -- Sublime Peace

"Is just a sinner who fell down,
But we couldn't stay there,
And got up."

~Donnie McClurkin

It seems we all know how to get back up if we fall down. But when it comes to us, something very personal I don't understand why we can't relate this anymore. Oh, dear! It feels so immeasurable.
But don't you think, many of the times we don't want to get up? We choose to not see the light?

ladder-1241122_1920.jpg

I think the answer is Yes. Believe me, I've been there and know how I started to cope with my 'down' position. But once I decided to get up, I saw the light, the light I will never leave behind again in life.

You know what, facing difficulty in life is actually an incredible experience. It's rewarding than you can ever imagine. Let me explain a little bit!

If I wanted to pause on my' most precious experience', the 'best happy moment' I had, I will lose the chance to enjoy happier and precious moments than those. Just like that, you may feel, 'it's okay to fall down' you may start to cope with it, but you will lose the chance to give life a chance.

Now I understand why our parents used to say, falling down in life is necessary. It's because you may never take the time to appreciate what you have, you may never notice how much power you have, you may never allow yourself to take challenges and be more. If you take this positively, you sure can move on and make life better.

But...

The question is, how can we gather the courage to get up?

mahdi-dastmard-5B8Pw-t9_Wo-unsplash.jpg

Well, my answer will not satisfy you this time. Because there's no 'formula' actually. You have to make your own ladder and climb on it to get up. Yeah, this is how it works.

Being bold, being positive, and firm on what you believe in will help you get back. But you have to make your own path.

There's no glory in living a 'smooth' life. I was a moron; I thought a smooth life is my goal. But I ended up facing challenges, and now I understand, the joy of life is in it. You fall down, you get up, you learn and move on.

So, next time you fall down (nope, not on the street; in your life), remember to prompt 'I'm strong, I know how to get up and I will make my way.'

Love from the heart

Image 010 54.jpg

Body here, mind elsewhere.

Action here, thoughts never there.

An act done with dedication.

A word spoke with affection.

Smiles that indicate true love and warmth.

Will remove the hatred that swarm.

Yesterday is now an illusion.

Tomorrow is only a haze.

You are now in control of what you are to do today.

Never waste the present gifted moment.

You can make it a wonderful memory for the next day.

The less than ordinary will go for ‘quantity’.

Never bothered about the quality.

What you seek should not be money alone.

Peace will give you happiness, I guarantee.

When you look around, you may see poverty and hunger.

Remember to feel grateful for your next meal and blanket.

Life is not all about making money and hoarding.

It is also about sharing and caring.

In the scorching warmth of summer, Turjo is strolling on the way to Dhaka University along Farmgate Road. A group of Bauls(বাউল) has come from the distant area of Sylhet who will sing at TSC this afternoon. This group is a devotee of Baul Samrat Shah Abdul Karim and has commemorated him as his disciple.

Image 010 55.jpg

Everyone is thirsty to quench their thirst by gulping lemonade with saccharin on the flank of the road this summer, Turjo is not feeling the heat. He has learned to acclimate himself like an ascetic. He once went to Delhi with a Baul team. As soon as he got off the plane, he felt as if a stream of heat was flowing through his whole body. But he saw the provincial people were walking without any problem. He reckoned that humans could actually accommodate to any environment and the situation, which is very arduous to adapt to other animals. Since Turjo is a disciple of a Baul group, this heat, cold, rain, or anything does not displease him at all.

Turjo has finished his MS in Physics from Dhaka University. His father, Subahan Saheb, is a well-known businessman in the city but does not acquaint his son to anyone.

He is also very aggravated with Humayun Ahmed, the famous and prominent writer of the country. His impression is that the fantasy series Himu is one of the most heinous series in Bengali literature where young children are misled.

Turjo is not listening to his boozer father's dirty words at all. Mr. Subahan and Turjo both know, Turjo's love for Humayun Ahmed will not diminish at all with these words. He was attending to the words with his head down and was scheduled to sit in the Chandrima Udyan at night and celebrate the full moon. It is true that Turjo is an avid reader of Humayun Ahmed and has never missed a single book of the Himu series. Although he does not wear yellow Punjabi, the influence of Himu is strong in him.

Turjo believes that every human being should have personal freedom. It is not necessary for everyone to get married. Turjo never feels good to be in his shack. His deep desire to become a Madhukori(মাধুকরী). When he listens to the word, unknowingly, a shiver rises in his whole body.

Turjo was lying in the open field in Chandrima Udyan, rejoicing the light of the full moon. Suddenly he heeded a humming sound from the bushes beside him, and at first, he was a little scared. But after a while, he realized that someone had come close to a courtesan, and it was the sound of his fulfillment.

Instructions to Get Featured

This here is our piece de resistance. To promote engagement and a little self-branding, we have come up with an initiative that we simply called Featured. And we are very excited about this portion of the magazine.

Every week, one talented author will have the opportunity to contribute a piece for the magazine, while showcasing one of their best posts. The willing writers will have a chance to add a few words about any topic that they choose and be a 25% beneficiary of the magazine.

How to Get Featured

The first step is, you have to decide whether you want to get featured or not. Once you've made up your mind, you have to apply by submitting one of your articles from last week. We have a wiggle room for quality content if they are older than seven days. Choose the piece you deem to be your best work for the week, as this will play a significant role in you getting featured or not.

Application Window

There will be a two-day period to submit your application. It must be submitted by dropping a link to your post in the #Featured-Magazine channel on the BDCommunity Discord Server. One author will be chosen randomly from all the submissions. The featured author for the week will be announced during the weekly voice meeting. They will then have two days for writing a piece and submit.

The author who gets featured in the weekly magazine will be set as a 25% beneficiary, meaning 25% of the magazine's liquid payout will go to the featured author.

Do not forget to join our next weekly hangout at Friday 10 PM GMT +6
