Social responsibility in agribusiness, circumscribes dimensions that influence performance, and that can achieve competitive advantages, trying to minimize the negative effects that certain aspects of this type of organizations cause in the environment.

With the development of social responsibility, agribusinesses, in addition to carrying out good practices in their activities, could be considered socially responsible agents and, therefore, improve their corporate image, prestige and reputation.

Some authors refer to social responsibility as the degree of obligations that an organization assumes through actions that protect and improve the welfare of society.
