Si debo exponer cual es mi momento olímpico preferido debo empezar por confesar que no soy una experta en temas de deportes, no obstante hay muchos que me gustan ver : gimnasia, natación, judo y pesas, sin embargo puedo decir que cada vez que se inauguraba una olimpiada dejaba cualquier compromiso que pudiera ejecutarse en otro momento y me sentaba con entusiasmo frente al televisor para apreciar todo el espectáculo que tal evento suponía, donde se reúnen los atletas de alto nivel de cada país, ver desfilar a los deportistas encargados de representar a cada nación con la bandera de cada país y sobretodo ver la de Venezuela me dejaba con una emoción y un nacionalismo especial en mi corazón.
If I must expose which is my favorite Olympic moment I must start by confessing that I am not an expert in sports, however there are many that I like to watch : gymnastics, swimming, judo and weightlifting, however I can say that every time an Olympics was inaugurated I left any commitment that could be executed at another time and I sat with enthusiasm in front of the TV to appreciate all the spectacle that such an event entailed, where high level athletes from each country gather, watching the athletes in charge of representing each nation parade with the flag of each country and above all seeing the Venezuelan flag left me with a special emotion and nationalism in my heart.
Sin embargo mi momento Olímpico favorito ha sido en estas Olimpiadas de Tokio 2020 y no específicamente en alguna competencia en particular, sino nuevamente el día de la inauguración y saben por qué? Bueno ya se los voy a explicar y así entenderán el por qué es mi instante preferido.
However my favorite Olympic moment has been in these Tokyo 2020 Olympics and not specifically in any particular competition, but again on the opening day and you know why? Well I am going to explain it to you and you will understand why it is my favorite moment.
Tengo una sobrina Judoka, se llama Karen León y en vista que la abanderada de mi país Yulimar Rojas por razones de fuerza mayor no estuvo presente, pues ella, mi sobrina, fue la escogida para ondear nuestro bello Tricolor. Karen fue la abanderada delegada por Venezuela para llevar el estandarte nacional, llenando a todos de un profundo orgullo y de una emoción inexplicable al verla cumplir su más anhelado sueño, como lo era estar en unas olimpiadas y ella con todo el esfuerzo y la disciplina que el Judo demanda hizo realidad esa añoranza, la cual compartimos en familia, ya que nos reunimos todos desde bien temprano, unos en Venezuela y otros miembros regados por el mundo ( Estados Unidos, Perú, Argentina, Chile) y conectados en conjunto apreciamos esas imágenes que quedarán grabadas en nuestros corazones por siempre.
I have a Judoka niece, her name is Karen Leon and since the flag bearer of my country Yulimar Rojas for reasons of force majeure was not present, she, my niece, was the one chosen to wave our beautiful Tricolor. Karen was the flag bearer delegated by Venezuela to carry the national flag, filling everyone with a deep pride and an inexplicable emotion to see her fulfill her most cherished dream, as it was to be in the Olympics and she with all the effort and discipline that Judo demands made that longing come true, which we shared as a family, since we all met early in the morning, some in Venezuela and other members scattered around the world (United States, Peru, Argentina, Chile) and connected together we appreciate these images that will remain engraved in our hearts forever
En relación a su participación no pudo avanzar esta vez, sin embargo para mí y para la familia ella es una Campeona porque con solo estar en Tokio ya es una victoria. Como es algo normal ella estaba muy triste , a tal punto de sentir que nos había defraudado, pero nada más lejos de la realidad ella es una Deportista de rendimiento y una ganadora. Comparto con ustedes las palabras que le dedique en ese momento:.
In relation to her participation she could not advance this time, however for me and for the family she is a Champion because just being in Tokyo is already a victory. As usual she was very sad, to the point of feeling that she had let us down, but nothing could be further from the truth, she is a performance athlete and a winner. I share with you the words I dedicated to her at that moment:
Karen throughout life you will always "lose" and "win" (in many aspects), there will be what many consider triumphs and failures, but in reality they are learnings that lead us to spiritual growth. What today you consider a "failure" is really a mirage, however I will not tell you not to feel bad because you have to feel the emotions and when you drain them at that very moment be certain that you really triumphed 🏆🏆🏆🏆, See you in France 2024.
