Gregory Levenfish was a player of the chess elite during the 50's and the truth is that he was a player with a great talent for chess but the Soviet Union played him a dirty trick by choosing Mikhil Botvinnic as a contender for the world title over him who had done much more merit to have that place, the game I chose to show you was played with white in 1949 against another future world champion Vasily Smyslov in charge of black and the truth is that here he showed all his tactics and depth and after a few moves after a Grunfeld defense, he was able to play the game with white in 1949 against another future world champion Vasily Smyslov in charge of black.

led Smyslov to this position where at first glance many may think of exchanging White's black squared Bishop for the knight on b6 but, no *Levenfish¨ve further and go deeper since the most active piece Black has is precisely the black squared Bishop on g7.

He was even capable of making moves like the following one in which the Rook on h8 is giving check but the King cannot capture because it would be checkmate in two moves and doing that to someone like Smyslov deserved to have all the chances to opt for the world championship, in the video I tell you a little of his life that really ended in a rather deplorable way.
