Beer Saturday : Fair Street Brewing Co-Op's Pils

For this weekend's #beersaturday adventure, I decided to switch it up a bit on styles. As some of you may know, I've been drinking a lot of hazy NE IPAs this past year. I can't help it; I love the hazy, especially when done right. There is just something about the hop profile that I can't enough of. With that said, I decided to go with a changeup today and grabbed a Fair Street Pils for today's beer adventure.

I do like a good pilsner. I remember during my homebrewing days my friend and I created a delicious pilsner by blending our brewing water with RO water. I think we ended up using a 80/20% RO/regular water profile, and the pilsner turned out perfectly. You would have sworn you were drinking a German soft water-based beer from Europe.

This one wasn't quite the same. It's a solid pilsner entry, but the front end feel of the water just isn't what you expect it to be. Or want it to be.

This beer is definitely a session beer. It comes in at 4.9% ABV and a 40 IBU. It tastes ok, for the most part. You can taste the Saaz and whatnot, but the mouthfeel isn't quite right. I don't know, maybe I'm too picky with my beers.

Still, that didn't spoil this afternoon's German sensibilities. For starters, my daughter and I snacked on some pretzels while I got the Weber prepped. With Oktobefest looming, we decided to grill up some bratwursts for dinner. So as I continued to enjoy my beverage while the grill warmed up...

We also shucked some sweet corn, prepped our CSA pork brats, added some hot dogs for our daughter, and enjoyed a warm September afternoon in our backyard.

With a few tater tots to boot, the final product was very German (and delicious!)

We do it up right here in Wisconsin. Rye buns, sauerkraut, and yellow mustard. No messing around with hot dog buns or ketchup (well, at least I don't mess around with that/1) It's the perfect fall meal, especially with some pilsner to wash it all down.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my #beersaturday adventure. If you too want to join the fun, please check out the contest below:

Until next Saturday, hoping everyone else had a wonderful Saturday too! And if you have a pilsner you'd recommend I try, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks again!
