I think I've seen a cute kitten, a phrase used by Tweety the canary every time he saw Silvestre appear on the scene, but this phrase has become immortal and is used by many others when we see a kitten in the street; those of us who have more than one cat and love them in all their shapes, sizes and colors become a little ambitious and wish to have one of each color, I can imagine their faces, but if one goes a little crazy, because every cat is beautiful and they all deserve to have a home where they are loved and protected or at least someone who gives them food and water at least once a day.

Precisely about the colors of the cats is about this publication because many times they are identified by it and for many the name given according to that coloration is unknown, also some studies it is believed that their behavior is also related to the color of their fur, but for now let's focus on the name given by the tone of their fur, so here I go to let you know them and by the way happy #caturday.

The first thing I must tell you is that I did not know this curiosity either, until a few years ago when someone told me that Tuxedo cat and my face was a total and complete question mark, to which the person replied a black and white cat, they are so called because of their similarity to a tuxedo and look it is something quite similar to the suit worn by gentlemen on special occasions. So this information caught my attention and I decided to investigate more about it and I come to tell you a little of what I discovered, maybe you can complement this information with something you know and I do not, that's why we are here to learn more about cats.

They are the cats that have or possess a single color in their fur, black and white are the most common, but there are also the grays, which are given up for adoption quickly because of their beautiful color. Here we talk about solid colors a single color without any lines.

These are tabby the most common or known are the Orange Tabby, among them the famous Garfield, but there are also in other shades and there are also those with lines and dots, in this case they are called or known as mackerel, as a common feature of these cats we have their famous M on the forehead, what we could call a hallmark, but here enters a sub classification that I want to share with you as I found it so you can understand a little more:

Mackerel: they are characterized by having thin vertical stripes on the sides of the body. They usually have an M on their forehead and two moles on the sides of their muzzle. This is the most common variety among tabby cats.
Classic: Like the mackerel, the classic has an M on its forehead, but the stripes are different. They are usually thicker and are joined together or have a swirl shape. They have more stripes on the legs than on the rest of the body.
Spotted: this type of tabby cats have spots instead of stripes, which can be more or less large. Examples of spotted cats are the Bengal, the Egyptian Mau or the Ocicat.
Marbled: marbled cats, such as the Abyssinian, have different colors and stripes across the body, especially on the legs, abdomen, tail and face.

Here would enter the original pattern which after selective breeding and crossbreeding has decreased, but not completely disappeared, since all cats have it, although it is not distinguishable to the naked eye.

Here we speak of a coat that is based on the term, a gene responsible for giving a darker color to the colder parts of the body such as tail, legs, ears and nose, this is the case of the Sienese, as my dear Pocholo, they are not born with these dark spots, as they grow these spots are expanding to reach their final color and size.

Most are females and if there is any male is very likely to be sterile, here the pattern is predominantly white, accompanied by black and orange spots, here there are two types those of solid spots and others that present tabby spots, ie brindle, both in orange and black tone. Sometimes, some calico cats have orange tabby spots, but not black or gray, on this last color it is possible and I have seen, calico cats that instead of black color in their fur has gray color which makes them very attractive to the eye. A mixture of two colors such as the Tuxedos already mentioned at the beginning or white cats with yellow spots or vice versa yellow cats with white spots, just to name a few possible combinations.
