When we think of our childhood many things come to our mind, those were some real innocent days of our lives and carefree too, where nothing really mattered to us. Except for studies we had no other botherations for life, but yet that felt like a big burden and the toughest job of our lives then. But now to think of it, those were the best things we did and the best days of our life.
When I look back at my Childhood fond memories, the first thing that comes to my mind is spending time with my Cousins. My Cousins and us, we all stayed in different cities, and during vacation it was our Granny's rule that we should all go to her place and spend our vacation with her. All of us cousins would be together during our vacations for few days, and because of that even today we are so strongly bonded with each other.
My elder sister is the eldest of our lot and she was a little different kind then and now also :-), she was always very serious types and she would majorly spend her time with the elders, and complain about us. Me and my other cousins would leave her and do our things. Today also we make fun of her, saying she was like a school teacher to us in those days, always very bossy and complaining about us. Those were some of the most innocent days of life.
Me and one of my Cousin got along very well then rest of the others so we would always sneak out and do our own things. There were no gadgets, no T.V., no telephone at my Granny's place. We had a big playground where we stayed, so most of the time was spent at the playground, and till we did not get a shout from our Granny we would not come back home. The place she lived was a big society, so there were many other children also, and I remember, all that we used to do during vacations there was eat, sleep and play in the park. There was nothing fancy in those times, but yet when I think of it, miss them terribly and wish we could go back into time again and spend some more time in those days.
Granny would make our favorite foods, and just like all siblings we used to also fight over it and when one is not attentive we would grab it from each other's plate. Granny would make equal share for all of us and serve us, but after that also there would be major tussles among us.
When it was time to get back to our respective homes, from 2 days before we would be all sad and did not want to go back, but then could not help. We always looked forward to these few days of vacation. We have also made it a practice that now our Children also together spend some time. Most of them have finished their schooling but we make sure that few days in a year they all meet up and spend time together. Some of my cousins are now settled outside of India, and we have not met up for a long time.
Those were not the days of smart phones and hardly anyone carried a camera also, unless it was a holiday or a special occasion, so we really did not have any pictures of all this fun time, all we have is strong memories which requires no printed image.
All Grown up, though some are missing in the picture. All are settled in different places and it is difficult for all of us to be together at one time. May be some day we will.
Our next generation, more naughtier then us. They have also grown up
Those were the good innocent days, and life was so much easier.
