Cactus Empire

To be honest, it's not a too big cactus empire, but there are more of them than I have. These are my mom's cacti. She also has a garden, which may be shown in another story, but now these prickly beauties are coming. The first two pictures represent succulents from the garden, but everything else is from the entrance to the house. The last pictures are my niece's cacti, she also likes them, so it's running in the family.

I say it is running in the family, as my grandmother had a lot of different types of cacti, a few decades ago when I was little. If you keep watching the post, you’ll see that mom has a nice number of them too.

As guardians of the entrance to the house, many pots of cacti are arranged on an old wooden stand. From small to large, with small and large thorns. It is your choice whether you want to touch them or not.

This one is not dangerous, for sure. It doesn't have any thorns, just thick leaves. It has lighter spots on a dark green surface. It's interesting.

The following specimen of the cactus is also harmless. It has no typical thorns and grows in height. It looks like one of the many species of creeping cacti I have seen in Spain, where they grow on the street or in abandoned plots.

This one is also interesting, and although at first glance it doesn't seem to have thorns, there are. Thin and bright colors, they do not stand out strongly, but your hand would feel them.

I didn’t dare to try the feel of this messy, crazy cactus on my skin. It has thin branches and I don't see thorns. But we never know, maybe some hidden one is waiting to greet you in its cactus-like way.

We are approaching the section of those cacti that can be used really as guardians of the house. Bigger thorns, and bigger sized cacti. There is no need for a dog to drive away intruders.

Some really tall guys, although I know they can be even taller, growing in the freedom, in another climate. The cacti my mother has got, usually sleep inside the house during winters. They would not survive the cold months.

Also, some smaller ones have found their home in this cactus kingdom. They are also there, proudly adorning this stand.

Only one cactus had a flower. The other day it had a few open ones, but it seems that each flower lasts only for one day. I only took the photo of this one, it will probably be closed tomorrow. This cactus is on the floor, not on a stand, and has more sun.

My mom could sign up for this famous hive #CactiKillers group. Take a look at this one. Absoultely dry trunk and branches, but the ends of those branches seem to have decided to come back to life. I don't know how this is possible. There's another similar case inside the house, and we'll see it in a few moments.

Here it comes. The same case, dried branches, the tops of which have turned green and grown. It's amazing how it decided to live.

The other small ones, that live inside are cute and she has them in decorative pots.

The last section of the photos show a small stand that my niece has in her room. She likes them and take care of them, as I already mentioned in the beginning. Not so many at the moment, but hopefully her collection will grow.

While I'm not home, my Elmo babies and other plants I got from Ewkaw will be visited by a friend. I told her to water them once a week, and we'll see at the end of August how many alive I'll find.
