Bromeliad plant.

I want to share with you the flower of my Bromeliad plant. Every year a new plant blooms for me. I take the offspring or the child that the mother plant gives me and I transplant it again.

The mother plant dies after it flowers, but before it dies it produces one or two offspring attached to its root or stem. After a certain time the offspring are carefully removed and transplanted, after this, with much sadness we see how the mother plant deteriorates until it dries up.

It is a spectacle to see, how the flower emerges from the upper portion of the plant. The plant has a rosette shape and in its upper part, at the junction of the leaves, they form a kind of cup, the water that the plant will absorb is deposited there.

It has very short roots and the weight of the plant can make it lean. Therefore, it is necessary to take the precaution of supporting it well by placing some weight on its superficial root.

It does not require great care. It’s protected from direct sunlight and is regularly planted in compost with fertilized soil. Water in its crown should not be lacking. And then from there in a period of about a year we see from its crown how this beauty of exotic flower comes out that encourages to look at it all the time.
