In the town of Escalante Utah is a little state park with a reservoir and a trail that has a ton of colorful stone like features that are actually old petrified trees.
The iron, magnesium, carbon and quartz seeps in and replaces where the tree used to be and leaves it looking exactly like the old tree bit now just colorful and hard as a rock... because that's what it is now.
The hike is short and very uneventful and not amazingly scenic and then all of a sudden you are in an area where there are tons of petrified tree rocks all over.
It's worth the walk however unless you want to see petrified wood it's a pretty steep price for a 90min walk.
