[ESP/ENGL] Cinco sabios refranes venezolanos (Décima Quinta Parte) // Five wise Venezuelan sayings (Fifteenth Part)

ESPAÑOL

¡Hola!

5) “Música paga no suena.”

1) “Who throws you a party that you do not usually do, or wants to cheat on you, or need something of you. "

This means that whoever has never approached you before if they are looking for you is for two reasons: Either they want to take advantage of you or they need something from you and then they try to flatter you and sweeten you. Therefore, it is necessary to be attentive to this type of behavior of people, so as not to fall into disadvantageous situations that can be avoided.

2) “Pay the duck. "

It is a very funny and short saying, and its meaning is that whoever pays the duck, assumes a responsibility that does not concern him, that is, he ends up assuming a fault that is alien to him. Sometimes, they put us “to pay the duck” without realizing it, that is why it is necessary to be attentive.

3 “The meekest cow, gives the hardest kick. "
This saying is very similar to the one that says: "God free me from the gentle water, I will free myself from the brave water" , and it is a very wise saying, since many times we err in making a judgment and we believe that if a person is mild and cordial, this means that he will behave in the same way constantly, that if we harass him he will remain calm and meek, and generally, experience and popular wisdom have shown that this is not the case. People who appear to be the most harmless are the ones who act in the worst way or in the most extreme way when they are disturbed; so, it is better to avoid falling into this type of situation; In addition, so we can maintain a good friendship, that you do not know when it will be very useful.

4) "Nobody knows the leaks in a house, but the one who is plugging them.”
This saying indicates that we have no certain idea of the life and real situation of people, if not the superficial, what we manage to glimpse; that we do not know the reasons for their actions and we lack total certainty, and by extension, the understanding of what lies behind certain behaviors. It is a saying similar to: ”He does not know about the pot, but the spoon that shakes it.”

5) " Paid music doesn't play.”
A saying widely used to say that that service or purchase that we pay in advance, we are less likely to receive it, since the other party loses interest in the transaction, since they have already received their payment; so if you are the wrong person, you will not mind keeping the commitment. That is why we must be careful when making any purchase that requires full payment in advance.
