Lo mejor de mi Infancia | Best Part of my Childhood

Best part of my Childhood

As a child I used to play a lot with my friends to play metras, dance the spinning top, fly parrots, perinola, 'tocaito', hide and seek, among other traditional games that had been alive for many years. There were seasons for each of them. Technology was not yet at such an expansive level as it has been for several years now. I remember that even at school during recess hours we used to play. Those 30-40 min breaks were quite short and the hours inside the classroom were endless. I was a kid who didn't know what was ahead. Sometimes I would see the lives of kids older than me and I wanted to be just like them in age and size lol I had a group of friends that lived near my house and it would barely get to 4:30pm and we would go out and get together to play some games. Vacations were so fucking short.

Nowadays many of those traditions have been lost, very few children of this generation keep them. Now I see an 8 year old kid with a super advanced phone or tablet playing call of duty or other current games. There is no denying that the years have passed. Maybe at that time I was much more focused on gaming, and now more than a decade later in retrospect I see that in my generation we were happy doing some of the above things or just going in a group to a cyber room to play counter strike for 1 or 2 hours. Things have changed and the evolution is imminent and progressive. I think the simplicity of those games without paying attention to superficial things like wearing the best clothes.

I remember that my dad at that time gave us each a pair of gloves (sport shoes) and the truth is that we were not excited to show them off to others to compare them and see if they were better than theirs or not, but because we felt like soccer stars like Ronaldinho or Messi with those shoes on. When it rained we would go out to play soccer with our friends on the road, bare patches on pavement covered with rain water, or in mud and with goals that consisted of only two stones each. The joy of everyone involved was contagious and made all those moments so fleeting but precious. Sometimes I wonder if the children of this generation are really happy with the current and modern things they have, and if they will remember all these moments with the same feeling as those of my generation and I remember ours.
