Jonathan Vankin is the author of the controversial book CLOSE TO ZERO, where he posits Covid-19 is the consequence of a conspiracy between Putin and his debtor D. Trump. Vankin is also an award-winning journalist, having published his work in The New York Times Magazine, LA Weekly, Salon, and others. He has likewise served as a comic book editor for DC/Vertigo Comics, writer of graphic novels, and co-author of the successful off-Broadway show FOREVER DUSTY, a bio-musical of the great British pop star Dusty Springfield.
J. Vankin and co-writer John Whalen are authors of the Greatest Conspiracies series, which began in 1995 with the book The 50 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time, and which has gone through four updated editions, including The 70 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time presented here.
The phrases "conspiracy theory", "conspiracy theory" or "conspiracy theory", of similar usage, are widely treated by Julio Patán. For him, these theories assume "the existence of perfect plots, universal and without limits in time and space".

This set of theories are neither new nor creations favoring social networks, for long before their existence, a wide range of such theories were already accumulating. In that sense, Vankin and Whalen go through these elaborations and in the eleven parts into which the book is divided, they present us with a banquet of the most surprising conspiracy theories in history; some range from the controversial alien autopsy, the death of Vince Foster, Big Brother on the Internet and the dark cult Aum of Japan; without neglecting the assassinations of emblematic figures of the twentieth century such as JFK and Lady Di.
Wired magazine had included the book in its "Top 10 Fringe Books of 1995". I think it is an entertaining book that allows us to approach all these issues from another perspective and to scrutinize, in an entertaining way, the effects of that invisible hand that is all around us, scheming how to control the world, always under our noses.

Este conjunto de teorías no son nuevas ni creaciones que favorecen las redes sociales, pues mucho antes de su existencia, ya se fueron acumulando una serie amplia de esta clase teorías. En ese sentido, Vankin y Whalen se pasean por estas elaboraciones y en las once partes en la que divide el libro nos presentan un banquete de las teorías de conspiración más sorprendentes de la historia; algunas van desde la controversia autopsia alienígena, la muerte de Vince Foster, el Gran Hermano en Internet y el oscuro culto Aum de Japón; sin descuidar los asesinatos de figuras emblemáticas del siglo XX como JFK y Lady Di.
La revista Wired había incluido al libro en su "Top 10 Fringe Books of 1995". Creo que es un libro entretenido que nos permite abordar todos estos asuntos desde otra óptica y escudriñar, de un modo entretenido, en los efectos de esa mano invisible que está alrededor de todos nosotros, maquinando cómo controlar el mundo, siempre bajo nuestras narices.
