Esa especial introducción se debe al libro sobre el cual les hablaré hoy, anteriormente había compartido sobre un tomo del proyecto Biblioteca Grandes Éxitos, especialmente del tomo 10: Los profanadores del amor. Hoy les traigo el segundo tomo que pude obtener, el número 49, una novela de la ganadora del premio nobel de literatura de 1938, Pearls S. Buck titulada: Viento del Este, viento del Oeste.
That special introduction is due to the book I'm going to tell you about today, I had previously shared about a volume of the Greatest Hits Library project, especially volume 10: The Defilers of Love. Esa es la primera línea de preámbulo que nos muestra el libro al ser abierto, cuando leí esas cuatro palabras se me erizó la piel, y aun no comenzaba la travesía, al culminar la historia fue una compresión total el porqué de ella. La trama trata sobre una joven china sumergida en las tradiciones ancestrales que ha cumplido con cada uno de los rigurosos aprendizajes para su único propósito en la vida: atender a su marido. El cómo Pearls S. Buck retrata con una prosa delicada a una familia arraigada a sus costumbres y cómo sus relaciones comienzas a desmoronarse cuando la intromisión de la cultura Occidental se entromete en sus vidas es una delicia total.
That is the first line of preamble that the book shows us when opened, when I read those four words my skin crawled, and the journey had not yet begun, when the story was completed it was a total understanding of the reason for it. The plot is about a young Chinese woman immersed in ancient traditions who has fulfilled each of the rigorous apprenticeships for her sole purpose in life: to take care of her husband. How Pearls S. Buck portrays with delicate prose a family rooted in their customs and how their relationships begin to crumble when the intrusion of Western culture intrudes into their lives is a total delight.

Un rasgo importante de la obra es que es principalmente guiada a través de las mujeres, siendo éstas desarrollados con fluidez y aprecio, relatando sus más grandes virtudes y debilidades, no solo unas simples humanas hermosas, sino más allá de ello, su lealtad, liderazgo, proezas, sueños, sufrimientos, anhelos, deseos y aptitudes. La armonía del relato está tan bien estructurado y exteriorizado que te lleva a un nivel de compresión única y profunda, causa dolor, alegría, llanto y reflexión, sobre todo esto último, el cual pienso es el principal objetivo de la historia.
An important feature of the work is that it is mainly guided through the women, being these developed with fluidity and appreciation, relating their greatest virtues and weaknesses, not only simple beautiful humans, but beyond that, their loyalty, leadership, prowess, dreams, sufferings, longings, desires, wishes and aptitudes. The harmony of the story is so well structured and externalized that it takes you to a unique and deep level of understanding, causes pain, joy, tears and reflection, especially the latter, which I think is the main objective of the story.
Opino que esta novela es una de las obras imprescindibles en la vida de una mujer, estuve tan maravillada que le insistí a mi madre que lo leyera. Representa fuerza, coraje, empoderamiento, cambio, deja mensajes claros y directos que aun en esta época siguen siendo controversiales, es momento de que comencemos a instruirnos en casa, a cada niña, hija, prima, sobrina, hermana, tía, madre. Es tiempo de que nos otorguemos nosotras mismas el puesto que nos merecemos, que aprendamos a recibir y ceder, a amar y olvidar.
I think this novel is one of the essential works in the life of a woman, I was so amazed that I insisted my mother to read it. It represents strength, courage, empowerment, change, it leaves clear and direct messages that even in this day and age are still controversial, it is time that we begin to educate ourselves at home, every girl, daughter, cousin, niece, sister, aunt, mother. It is time that we give ourselves the position we deserve, that we learn to receive and to yield, to love and to forget.
