Hoy continúo nuevamente con este Reto de Lectura de 7 Días que, a decir verdad, lo había dejado un poco en el abandono (eso es lo que termina ocurriendo cuando quiero realizar varias iniciativas a la vez).
Hoy les hablaré un poco acerca de una Trilogía que me llegó a gustar bastante, tanto así que a pesar de que los libros son bastante extensos los terminé leyendo más de una vez. La Saga Millenium es una serie de novelas criminales suecas creadas por Stieg Larsson, aunque la verdad es que no es una trilogía como tal pues hasta el momento esta saga está compuesta por cinco libros, pero los primeros los veo como una trilogía y los libros restantes como una “continuación no oficial” por el simple motivo de que los primeras tres novelas fueron escritas por el propio Larsson y tras su muerte repentina en el año 2014, la editorial sueca contrató a David Lagercrantz para continuar con esta saga.
Hasta el momento sólo me le leído la trilogía escrita por Larsson pues para el momento en el que me obsesioné con esta saga, la cuarta novela (titulada: Lo que no te mata te hace más fuerte) aún no estaba publicada.

Today I will tell you a little bit about a Trilogy that I liked a lot, so much so that even though the books are quite long, I ended up reading them more than once. The Millenium Saga is a series of Swedish crime novels created by Stieg Larsson, although the truth is that it is not a trilogy as such because so far this saga is composed of five books, but I see the first ones as a trilogy and the remaining books as an "unofficial continuation" for the simple reason that the first three novels were written by Larsson himself and after his sudden death in 2014, the Swedish publisher hired David Lagercrantz to continue with this saga.
So far I have only read the trilogy written by Larsson because by the time I became obsessed with this saga, the fourth novel (titled: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger) was not yet published.

La Saga Millenium es bastante conocida a nivel mundial y cuenta con varias adaptaciones cinematográficas bastante interesantes. Comenzaré diciendo que este es un libro bastante duro de leer pues tiene algunas escenas bastante desagradables que hacen que te enfurezcas debido a los terribles actos que se comenten, pero aunque nos duela así es la realidad y lo que me agradó de cierta manera es que el autor no se esforzaba por adornarte las palabras porque la realidad es así: despiadada, dura, cruel. Por otra parte, la trama de estos tres libros es muy apasionante y sí bien es cierto que al comienzo el primer libro (Los hombres que no amaban a las mujeres) comienza siendo un poco lento y pareces perderte con la cantidad de información que te va llegando y con los acontecimientos que van ocurriendo, al final te terminas enganchando completamente con la historia y con cada uno de los personajes.
De estos tres libros es un poco complicado tener un favorito, porque la verdad es que los tres son realmente maravillosos. En el primero de ellos nos encontramos ante un misterio que envuelve a la numerosa familia Vanger. Henrik Vanger lleva cerca de treinta años obsesionado con la desaparición de su sobrina Harriet, ¿se escapó? ¿fue secuestrada? ¿asesinada? él simplemente desea, antes de morir, tratar de resolver este misterio y para ello contrata a uno de nuestros personajes principales: Mikael Blomkvist, un periodista cuya carrera profesional y reputación se encuentran seria amenazadas por la denuncia de difamación y calumnia presentada por un gran grupo industrial. Blomkvist acepta el encargo de Vanger de retomar la búsqueda de Harriet y, de manera inesperada, contará con la ayuda de una peculiar chicha con una mente brillante pero "socialmente inadaptada" llamada Lisbeth Salander.
The Millenium Saga is quite well known worldwide and has several interesting film adaptations. I'll start by saying that this is a pretty hard book to read because it has some pretty unpleasant scenes that make you get angry because of the terrible acts that are committed, but even if it hurts us that's reality and what I liked in a way is that the author did not strive to embellish the words because reality is so: ruthless, hard, cruel. On the other hand, the plot of these three books is very exciting and although it is true that at the beginning the first book (The Men Who Didn't Love Women) starts off a little slow and you seem to get lost with the amount of information that is coming to you and with the events that are happening, in the end you end up getting completely hooked with the story and with each of the characters.
Of these three books is a little complicated to have a favorite, because the truth is that all three are really wonderful. In the first of them we are faced with a mystery involving the large Vanger family. Henrik Vanger has been obsessed for nearly thirty years with the disappearance of his niece Harriet, did she run away? was she kidnapped? was she murdered? he simply wants, before dying, to try to solve this mystery and for this he hires one of our main characters: Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist whose professional career and reputation are seriously threatened by the defamation and slander complaint filed by a large industrial group. Blomkvist accepts Vanger's assignment to resume the search for Harriet and, unexpectedly, he will have the help of a peculiar girl with a brilliant mind but socially maladjusted named Lisbeth Salander.
En este primer libro tenemos ante nosotros a un montón de personajes pues, como mencioné antes, la familia Vanger es bastante extensa y puedes llegar a un punto en el que te pierdes un poco y no sabes de cual miembro de la familia es que se está hablando. En cuanto a los dos personajes principales de la historia, Mikael y Lisbeth, me han parecido simplemente espectaculares, cada uno de ellos presenta situaciones en su vida que tratan de resolver pero lo fascinante es cómo terminan llegando a un punto en común dentro de la historia. Por una parte, tenemos al valiente y terco Mikael quien le pone un gran esfuerzo a todo lo que hace y al momento de investigar se mete de lleno para tratar de descubrir toda la verdad. Y, por otra parte, tenemos a la incomprendida Lisbeth que a pesar de ser una adulta nunca es tratada como tal, incluso las personas llegan a pensar que tiene una enfermedad mental y por tal motivo es que le es asignado un tutor y un administrador para evitar así no ser ingresada en un hospital psiquiátrico. Lisbeth es sumamente valiente e inteligente y no le tiembla el pulso a la hora de hacer pagar a las personas que han hecho algún mal.
Los giros argumentales en Los Hombres que no Amaban a las Mujeres hacen que tu mente explote. Recuerden que aquí básicamente se está tratando de resolver una gran incógnita y el autor básicamente te termina envolviendo de una manera fascinante, comienzas sospechando de muchas personas pero al final te das cuenta que no estabas ni cerca de poder adivinar qué fue lo que ocurrió con Harriet.
In this first book we have before us a lot of characters because, as I mentioned before, the Vanger family is quite extensive and you can get to a point where you get a little lost and do not know which member of the family is being talked about. As for the two main characters in the story, Mikael and Lisbeth, I found them simply spectacular, each one of them presents situations in their lives that they try to solve but what is fascinating is how they end up reaching a common point within the story. On the one hand, we have the brave and stubborn Mikael who puts a great effort to everything he does and at the time of investigating he gets into it fully to try to discover the whole truth. And, on the other hand, we have the misunderstood Lisbeth who despite being an adult is never treated as such, even people come to think that she has a mental illness and for that reason is that she is assigned a guardian and an administrator to avoid being admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Lisbeth is extremely brave and intelligent and does not hesitate to make people who have done wrong pay.
The plot twists in The Men Who Didn't Love Women make your mind explode. Remember that here you are basically trying to solve a big unknown and the author basically ends up enveloping you in a fascinating way, you start out suspecting a lot of people but in the end you realize that you weren't even close to being able to guess what happened to Harriet.
El segundo libro de esta trilogía (La chica que soñaba con una cerilla y un bidón de gasolina) también me gustó bastante pues se enfoca mucho más en Lisbeth Salander. Aquí nos cuentan su historia y conoceremos esos traumas que tuvo a temprana edad que la llevaron a ser injustamente catalogada como una persona “discapacitada mentalmente” cuando en realidad ella es todo lo contrario pues es una chica con una mente brillante, memoria fotográfica y una personalidad bastante dura que le permite enfrentar muchos problemas. Esta segunda entrega tiene su continuación en La reina en el palacio de las corrientes de aire, este libro se conecta con el anterior y da un desenlace a todo los ocurrido en La chica que soñaba con una cerilla y un bidón de gasolina. Y por eso es que les digo que es complicado tener un libro favorito de estos tres, las historias son asombrosas así como también los personajes.
The second book of this trilogy (The Girl Who Dreamed of a Match and a Gas Can) I also liked it a lot because it focuses much more on Lisbeth Salander. Here we are told her story and we get to know those traumas she had at an early age that led her to be unfairly labeled as a "mentally handicapped" person when in fact she is quite the opposite because she is a girl with a brilliant mind, photographic memory and a pretty tough personality that allows her to face many problems. This second installment has its continuation in La reina en el palacio de las corrientes de aire, this book connects with the previous one and gives a denouement to everything that happened in La chica que soñaba con una cerilla y un bidón de gasolina (The girl who dreamed with a match and a can of gasoline). And that is why I tell you that it is difficult to have a favorite book of these three, the stories are amazing as well as the characters.
