[ESP-ENG] Reseña Nostálgica del Libro Introducción a la Filosofía de Ignacio Burk/ Nostalgic Review of the Book Introduction to the Philosophy of Ignacio Burk

Today I wanted to review a book that has an interesting story from when I was studying high school, at that time one could choose between studying humanities or science, those who studied humanities did not take subjects such as physics and chemistry, but the truth is that those who they took this last option they saw other subjects such as sociology, psychology, philosophy and even Latin.
I heard my friends say that studying humanities was boring, however, I had made a very good friendship with a group that studied that modality since they were thinking of doing humanistic and art-related careers, the way of thinking of these young people was different and quite interesting; One day a friend, who by the way, wanted to be an actress, invited me to join one of her philosophy classes and since I had those free hours I decided to enter.

I remember very well the teacher, a very tall man with a baritone voice, he was imposing, and his class was about Plato, I was surprised and enthusiastic about his class, the students had a book that everyone called the Burk, then I realized that It was because of the author's last name. I became so interested in the subject that I bought the book, in those years the books were very cheap and were available without problem, and in this way I began to be interested in philosophy, so much that I even thought of changing from science to humanities, something which in the end I didn't do (I'll tell this story later).

This textbook is about all the philosophers of history, from Plato and Aristotle to the philosophy of characters like Albert Einstein, the copy that I bought at that time had a red cover, but in a move I lost the book, then I bought an updated edition of the Buchivacoa publishing house from 1998. Because it is a textbook, and adapted for high school at the time, it is very different from any other philosophy book, but it has something very special, and it is written with the intention of that you consciously start thinking and searching for your own philosophy of life.

Physics and chemistry are for everyone who is interested in them, they are there to be taken and studied, but philosophy is not like that, this is something that is yours, that comes from you and not from elsewhere. The study of philosophy consists of learning to philosophize. This work by Burk can be read in no order, you choose a page or a topic, you read it and that's it, but one of the best things about this book are the exercise questions that appear at the end of each topic, they are great, they are personal and make you really think.
Well, I can only recommend this book, and tell you how that wonderful professor of philosophy ended the class, with the words: Aude sapere (dare to know).
