Siempre me ha interesado la historia de mi país, aunque debo confesar que he leído poco al respecto, sin embargo, me he informado bastante de los acontecimientos del pasado de mi país gracias a programas en las redes de personas que han estudiado muy a fondo la historia.
Hace pocos días vimos una película llamada “Taita Boves”, que es una película venezolana que retrata parte de la vida de uno de los personajes más famosos de la historia de la guerra de independencia de mi país, me refiero a José Tomás Boves. Dicha película me gustó mucho y me animó a leer un pequeño libro perteneciente a la Biblioteca Biográfica Venezolana de la colección de libros de El Nacional, Volumen 6, en la cual se hace una muy buena biografía de Boves.
I have always been interested in the history of my country, although I must confess that I have read little about it, however, I have learned a lot about the events of the past in my country thanks to programs in the networks of people who have studied the history.
A few days ago we saw a movie called "Taita Boves", which is a Venezuelan film that portrays part of the life of one of the most famous characters in the history of the war of independence of my country, I mean José Tomás Boves. I liked this film very much and it encouraged me to read a small book belonging to the Venezuelan Biographical Library from the El Nacional book collection, Volume 6, in which a very good biography of Boves is made.
Para los que no conocen este personaje, quiero decirles que era un hombre extremadamente violento y bárbaro, solo su nombre infundía terror en la gente y se decía que por donde su caballo pasaba nunca más crecía yerba ni nada parecido, era un demonio montado a caballo. Leer este libro fue para mí muy emocionante, y estoy segura que lo será también para cualquiera que lo lea.
For those who do not know this character, I want to tell you that he was an extremely violent and barbarous man, only his name instilled terror in people and it was said that wherever his horse passed he never grew grass or anything like that, he was a demon mounted on horseback . Reading this book was very exciting for me, and I am sure it will be exciting for anyone who reads it.
Boves es una figura enigmática y más allá de su leyenda fue un hombre que se convirtió en un guerrero y sanguinario por haber sido víctima de la crueldad y la injusticia de la guerra, a la cual él ni siquiera tenía intenciones de participar. La venganza y el odio hacia los mantuanos venezolanos de entonces quienes le habían arrebatado todo lo que tenía fue lo que convirtió a Boves en lo que fue.
Boves is an enigmatic figure and beyond his legend he was a man who became a warrior and bloodthirsty for having been a victim of the cruelty and injustice of war, in which he had no intention of participating. Revenge and hatred towards the Venezuelan Mantuans of the time who had taken everything he had from him was what turned Boves into what he was.
Leer este libro fue muy revelador, y me ayudó a conocer un poco más de nuestra historia, esa que no nos enseñaron ni en el colegio ni en el bachillerato. Recomiendo leer este pequeño libro de apenas 127 páginas y von una letra bastante grande que hace fácil su lectura. Estoy segura que le encantará e igual que a mí, los emocionará a tal punto que querrán saber mucho más de este personaje y de otros que formaron parte de la guerra de independencia de Venezuela.
Reading this book was very revealing, and it helped me to know a little more about our history, the one that we were not taught in school or in high school. I recommend reading this little book of only 127 pages and a fairly large print that makes it easy to read. I'm sure you will love it and like me, it will excite you to such an extent that you will want to know much more about this character and others who were part of the Venezuelan war of independence.
