Since spring bring so many events, book fair is one of them. Book fair is an annual festival that is celebrated in my university every spring and the book sellers from all over the country are invited to display their books on their stalls.
The significance of book fair event lies in the fact that with the modernisation of the technology and in the era of e-libraries, e-books and e-reading the connection of the readers with the printed books and handbooks is distorted completely. In today’s era even the institutions have shifted their modes of learning and teaching to online and the online notes are provided to the students by the professors.
The feel and the essence that is felt by the book in hand can never be felt online. Also in online reading there are many chances to overlook something.
However, moving to the book fair that my university organised, was a 2 day event consisting of many stalls.
The enterance of the book fair was decorated with a flower setting. And then an elongated parking area was tented for book stalls.
There were multiple book stalls and every stall owner was from different city. Some also had online businesses and were promoting their book selling online businesses as well by giving their brochures.
The wide range of books were subject oriented like, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology, English literature and Political Sciences.
And another major section of books were from the Urdu literature, Urdu novels and Urdu Sufism, Islamic and Quranic studies etc.
One book stall that was dedicated to Urdu literature and Urdu Sufism had the frames and keychain of the peotry of well unknown Urdu Scholars such as **Baba Bulleh Shah, Khawaja Fareed Nawaz **etc
These scholars hold special significance in Urdu literature and Sufism and have evoked the mindsets of many people through their poetry.
Here are the frames and keychains representing those Sufi scholars.
I got the one saying: جہاں پاک نِگاہان ہوئیاں کدھی نہ جاندے ٹھگے
Which is translated into: Those who are blessed with sanity vision, are never cheated.
Then moving to the books section I searched for the books that are my aura of interest, but couldn’t find any particular in the beginning then after finding a lot I found a book named: False Work Small Talk
Just by reading the title of the book, I understood that this book is of my interest, I like the books which give perspective to our thinking patterns, which challenge our existing thoughts and help to transform ourselves in better ways. Anyhow, felt quite interested in the book so bought it<3
The interesting thing that I witnessed at this Book Fair was the crowd! There were a lot of students who were visiting it and buying the books as well. It was really interesting for me as I didn’t believe that this generation would be that much interested in books!
The book fair is not the event that is only book oriented but there is also a little bit of entertainment with it as there were some other stalls related to food items, jewellery items and many more.
For example this was a stationary items stall, consisting of multiple daily usage stationary items, such as diaries, notebooks, ballpoints, markers, colors etc.
This was a jewellery items stall, consisting of hair clips, scrunches, earings, necklaces etc.
This was a painting stall having different kind of paintings.
Lastly we had a food stall, having trifles, fruit chats, cheese corns etc.
Inshort, Bookfair is a very delightful event where people connrct with the books, have insights about the categories of different books and enjoy with the variety if other stalls as well.
