I have always been drawn to movies and series about magic, witches, vampires and when I was even younger, I loved reading about the inquisition era just to be connected to the subject.
What I was missing was to delve into this subject in books, and believe me I was looking forward to find a good book.
I am happy to tell you that I found it, and not just one, but three. My great friend Lucia, guilty of recommending me the best books I have ever read, recommended me the trilogy of "The Kingdom of the Damned" by Kerri Maniscalco. A book about witches and demons.
SYNOPSIS
Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe: witches who live in secret among humans, avoiding attention and persecution. But one night, Vittoria misses her turn for dinner at the famous Sicilian restaurant run by the family. And Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin... desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, she sets out to find her sister's killer and get revenge at any cost, even if it means using dark magic, which has long been forbidden.
That leads her to summon Wrath, Prince of Wrath and one of the 7 Princes of Sin (Wrath, Pride, Envy, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony and Greed), which her nonna warned her and her twin so much about.
But her goal is to use him to find her sister's murderer, or rather to work together to solve this mystery that affects not only witches but also Demons.
Wrath wants to break a millenary curse that affects the King of the Underworld. Wrath wants to break a millenary curse that affects the King of the Underworld.
Emilia, for her part, embarks on a personal journey that will lead her to destroy everything she knew to rebuild a part of her that she didn't know existed and unravel a series of secrets that her own family kept from her. In the end, she is not even sure who she is anymore.
The Kingdom of the Damned is a story consisting of three books: The Kingdom of the Damned, The Seven Circles of Hell and The Rise of the Dreaded.
Today I will talk about the trilogy, in general, because they are written in a way that the three together, seem a very long book, shall I explain?
—There are winners and there are victims. Decide who you want to be. Or others will decide for you, witch. And I doubt you'll like it.
MY OPINION
What I liked most about this trilogy is the mystery in which it immerses us from beginning to end. Who killed Vittoria, was it the Demons or the Witch Hunters, why? Why didn't she tell Emilia? Was her twin the same girl she always knew? What does the Prince of Wrath really want? What is he hiding?
And although it is a fantasy story with romance, I found that the development of the romance as such is not the main thing, but all the secrets and mystery to be solved.
Always have the power to choose, even when those choices seem limited. Never forget that.
And it is a change from heaven to earth the development of Emilia's character. It is amazing to see how with each discovery and each event she becomes stronger and more determined without the need to become cruel and ruthless for no reason.
Revenge is a powerful emotion. It makes you easy prey for humans and demons alike. Never let anyone know what your true motivation is. If they know what you want more than anything else in the world, they will employ all sorts of sweet lies and half-truths to manipulate you. They will know exactly how far they can push you, what to offer and what you would never refuse, which will give them the upper hand. Your first goal should be to stay alive. Everything else, figure it out as you go along.
The narration is quite descriptive but not boring. And something that I also liked a lot is that they are dropping clues for you to go joining the threads and drawing your own conclusions, about things that even Emilia herself had not noticed but maybe you do as a reader. And if you didn't notice, well, nothing, you'll be very surprised with the plot twists.
About Wrath, although at the beginning he seems selfish and only concerned about his own interests, as the pages go by you realize that he is a REAL MAN. The truth is that I was enchanted with him and loved the lessons he gave Emilia to be a stronger and smarter woman and not let herself be stepped on by others and honestly, his advice was so good that even I took it for myself.
No, you don't need a spell or amulet or trinket to offer you false protection. You need to trust yourself and your power. Or you will be tortured and mocked for eternity.
The truth is that I was very happy with this trilogy and I highly recommend it.
-With time, you will learn to focus on the present and let go of the past. There is no point in dwelling on what could have been but never will be. It will only keep you from being who you are. One of the hardest things you can do is to live in the here and now. Not worrying about the future, not rehashing the past. To be present, that is the secret to change the future. To find true happiness.

Siempre me han llamado la atención las películas y series sobre magia, brujas vampiros y cuando era más joven aún, me encantaba leer sobre la época de la inquisición solo por estar conectada al tema.
Lo que me faltaba era adentrarme a este tema en libros, y créeme que deseaba con ganas encontrar un buen libro.
Estoy feliz de contarte que lo encontré, y no solo uno, sino tres. Mi gran amiga Lucia, culpable de recomendarme los mejores libros que he leído, me recomendó la trilogía de "El Reino de Los Malditos" de Kerri Maniscalco. Un libro sobre brujas y demonios .
SINOPSIS
Emilia y su hermana gemela Vittoria son streghe: brujas que viven en secreto entre los humanos, evitando llamar la atención y ser perseguidas. Pero una noche, Vittoria se pierde el turno de la cena en el famoso restaurante siciliano que regenta la familia. Y Emilia pronto encuentra el cuerpo de su querida gemela… profanado más allá de lo imaginable. Devastada, se propone encontrar al asesino de su hermana y conseguir venganza a cualquier precio, incluso si eso significa usar magia oscura, que lleva mucho tiempo prohibida.
Eso la lleva a invocar a Wrath, principe de la Ira y uno de los 7 Príncipes del Pecado (Ira, Orgullo, Envidia, Lujuria, Pereza, Gula y Avaricia), de los que su nonna tanto les advirtió a ella y su gemela.
Pero su objetivo es usarlo para encontrar al asesino de su hermana, o mejor dicho trabajar juntos para resolver este misterio que afecta no solo a las brujas sino también a los Demonios.
Wrath quiere romper una maldición milenaria que afecta al Rey del Inframundo.
Emilia, por su parte , emprende un viaje personal que la llevará a destruir todo lo que conocía para reconstruir una parte de ella que no sabía que existía y desenmarañar una serie de secretos que su propia familia le ocultaba. Al final ya ni siquiera está segura de quién es ella.
El reino de los Malditos es una historia que consta de tres libros: El Reino de Los Malditos, Los Siete Círculos del Infierno y La Ascensión de Las Temidas.
Hoy te hablaré de la trilogía, en general, porque están escritos de una forma que los tres juntos, parecen un libro muy largo, ¿Me explico?
—Hay vencedores y hay víctimas. Decide quién quieres ser. U otros lo decidirán por ti, bruja. Y dudo que te guste.
MI OPINIÓN
Lo que más me gustó de esta trilogía es el misterio en el que nos sumerge de principio a fin. ¿Quién mató a Vittoria?, ¿Fueron los Demonios o los Cazadores de Brujas? , ¿Por qué?, ¿En qué estaba metida ella? ¿Por qué no le contó nada a Emilia? ¿Era su gemela la misma chica que siempre conoció? ¿Qué es lo que realmente quiere el Príncipe de la Ira? ¿Qué oculta?
Y aunque es una historia de fantasía con romance, me pareció que el desarrollo del romance como tal no es lo principal, sino todos los secretos y el misterio que hay que resolver.
Siempre tienes el poder de elegir, incluso cuando esas opciones parezcan limitadas. Nunca lo olvides.
Y es un cambio de cielo a tierra el desarrollo de personaje de Emilia. Es increíble ver como con cada descubrimiento y cada suceso se va haciendo más fuerte y determinada sin necesidad de volverse cruel y despiadada sin motivo alguno.
La venganza es una emoción potente. Te convierte en una presa fácil tanto para los humanos como para los demonios. Nunca dejes que alguien sepa cuál es tu verdadera motivación. Si saben lo que quieres más que nada en el mundo, emplearán todo tipo de dulces mentiras y medias verdades para manipularte. Sabrán exactamente hasta dónde pueden presionar, qué ofrecer y qué no rechazarías nunca, lo que les dará ventaja. Tu primer objetivo debe ser seguir viva. Todo lo demás, descúbrelo sobre la marcha.
La narración es bastante descriptiva pero sin llegar a aburrir. Y algo que también me gustó mucho es que te van soltando pistas para que vayas uniendo los hilos y sacando tus propias conclusiones, sobre cosas que ni la misma Emilia había notado pero puede que tú sí como lector. Y si no te diste cuenta pues, nada, te sorprendes muchísimo con los giros argumentales.
Sobre Wrath, aunque al principio parece alguien egoísta solo preocupado por sus propios intereses, con el paso de las páginas te das cuenta de que es UN VERDADERO HOMBRE. La verdad es que quedé encantada con él y amé las lecciones que le daba a Emilia para que fuese una mujer mas fuerte e inteligente y no se dejara pisar por otros y honestamente, sus consejos eran tan buenos que hasta yo los acepté para mí misma.
No, no necesitas un hechizo o amuleto o baratija que te ofrezca una falsa protección. Necesitas confiar en ti misma y en tu poder. O te torturarán y se burlarán de ti por toda la eternidad.
La verdad quedé super contenta con esta trilogía te la recomiendo muchísimo.
—Con el tiempo, aprenderás a concentrarte en el presente y dejar ir el pasado. No tiene sentido pensar en lo que podría haber sido pero nunca será. Solo te impedirá ser lo que eres. Una de las cosas más difíciles que se pueden hacer es vivir en el aquí y el ahora. No preocuparse por el futuro, no rehacer el pasado. Estar presente, ese es el secreto para cambiar el futuro. Para encontrar la verdadera felicidad.
