Today I want to share with all of you one of my favorite childhood works; Peter Pan by the Spanish novelist and playwright James Matthew Barrie. There is no doubt that his story has been known by most through movies, in my case I enjoyed it on the Disney Channel thirteen years ago. Likewise, there is nothing better than having the opportunity to read a good book knowing that you had the chance to enjoy its story through television screens, but as I have always emphasized, reading a book knowing that you may know the plot, makes the reading experience more interesting. So, let's talk about the book!
Hoy quiero compartir con todos ustedes unas de mis obras favoritas de la infancia; Peter Pan del novelista y dramaturgo español James Matthew Barrie. No cabe duda, que su historia ha sido conocida por la mayoría a través de películas, en mi caso disfruté de la misma en el canal Disney Channel hace trece años. Asimismo, no hay nada mejor que tener la oportunidad de leer un buen libro sabiendo que tuviste la oportunidad de difrutar a través de las pantallas televisivas su historia, pero como siempre he resaltado, leer un libro sabiendo que quizás conozcas la trama, hace más interesante la experiencia de la lectura. De esta forma, ¡Hablemos del libro!
Peter Pan is a novel with a children's and fantastic literature. Thus, the character made his first appearance in a play premiered in London on December 27, 1904, from that date began to develop several alternative stories of the original. Now, having said that, the main characters of the play are: Peter Pan: He is known as the "leader of the lost children". Wendy Darling who is a beautiful 12 year old girl who becomes the mother of the lost children who were with Peter. James Hook is Peter Pan's antagonist. Campanilla is the fairy who adopted and raised Peter as a child. And The Lost Children are a group of children in Peter and Tinkerbell's care. They all live together in Neverland.
Peter Pan, es una novela con una literatura infantil y fantástica. De esta manera, el personaje, hizo su primera aparición en una obra de teatro estrenada en Londres el 27 de Diciembre del año 1904, a partir de dicha fecha comenzaron a desarrollarse diversas historias alternativas de la original. Ahora bien, dicho esto los personaje principales de la obra son: Peter Pan: Se le conoce como el “líder de los niños perdidos”. Wendy Darling quien es una hermosa niña de 12 años y que se vuelve la madre de los niños perdidos que estaban con Peter. James Garfio es el antagonista de Peter Pan. Campanilla es el hada que adoptó y crío a Peter desde niño. Y los niños perdidos son un grupo de niños al cuidado de Peter y Campanilla. Viven todos juntos en Nunca Jamás.
After the murder of Hamlet's father and king, the guards of the castle of Elsinore begin to witness in the night hours the spirit of the King in the state of Denmark, so the guards decide to warn at that very moment the young Hamlet, son of the deceased, about the nocturnal apparition of his father. Hamlet feels totally devastated because he still does not accept the death of his father and, in addition to this, he is totally overwhelmed to see that his mother Gertrude, after only a month of the death of the king, marries Claudius, brother of the late king.
Ahora bien, la historia relata lo siguiente: Los Darling quienes son una típica familia, conformada por George Darling y su esposa Mary Darling, ambos crían a sus tres hijos: Wendy, John y Michael, por su parte, en la familia también encontramos a la Nana, que es la niñera de los niños. Una noche Peter pierde su sombra en la casa de los Darling, por lo que, Wendy en medio de su curiosidad encuentra dicha sombra, la guarda y la noche siguiente, Peter Pan decide presentarse en aquella casa para buscarla, Wendy sin saber los planes que tenía Pater le cose la sombra a los pies para que ésta esté pegada a él de nuevo.
After this Peter decides that Wendy will be the mother of the Lost Boys. At first Wendy is terrified that she would run away from home. Peter asks her to accompany him to Neverland, his home, where she will never grow up. Finally, after some thought, she agrees to go with him, but on the condition that her siblings are also there.
Después de esto Peter decide que Wendy será la madre de los Niños Perdidos. Al principio Wendy queda aterrada ya que se escaparía de casa. Peter le pide que lo acompañe al país de Nunca Jamás, su hogar, en donde ella nunca crecerá. Finalmente, después de pensarlo ella accede a acompañarlo, pero con las condición de que sus hermanos estuvieran también.
Together they fly to Neverland. There Wendy and her siblings live numerous adventures, meet the Indians and mermaids, but also face the spiteful Captain Hook, eager to kill Peter because Peter cut off his right hand in a sword duel. Knowing this, together they decide to devise a plan to defeat the evil Captain. So, in the last pages we can be excited to know that the man is defeated. Finally, Wendy decides to return home with her brothers and the Lost Boys, and Peter promises Wendy to come back again to hear the stories of pirates, mermaids...
Juntos van volando hacia el país de nunca Jamás. Allí Wendy y sus hermanos viven numerosas aventuras, conocen a los indios y a las sirenas, pero también se enfrentan al rencoroso Capitán Garfio, deseoso de acabar con Peter debido a que Peter le cortó la mano derecha en un duelo de espadas. Sabiendo esto, entre todos deciden elaborar un plan para derrotar al malvado Capitán. Por lo que, en las últimas páginas podremos emocionarnos al saber que aquel hombre es derrotado. Finalmente, Wendy decide volver a su hogar con sus hermanos y los Niños Perdidos, y Peter le promete a Wendy regresar de nuevo para oír las historias de piratas, sirenas...
