entry sh 175 title: simple summer salad shadows

it was a beautiful early summer evening so we sat out in the garden for dinner.
the weather was too good to waste on making a fancy time consuming meal but i did take the time to make a nice lasagna. it's about 40 meters from our kitchen to the patio overlooking the harbor so when we eat outside we tend to keep it simple.

for a salad i just threw a handful of rucola on a blue glass plate. this time of year the rucola from the garden has a mild delicate taste that best complements a lasagna just the way it is. i brought out the plates, glasses, tableware, water and salad. when i put the salad plate on the table i immediately noticed the shadow. so i wanted to go back to the house to get the camera.

the problem is

we sometimes put out leftovers and such to feed them. they don't mind if we stand with a camera ready to take some photos. it's a win-win situation but they keep

on our patio and swoop down as soon as they spot anything of interest. we cannot leave unguarded food on the table for even a minute.

now rucola is not the favorite meal of any seagulls i have ever seen so i took the chance and quickly got the camera. happily the gulls had not bothered to check out the salad. i removed the snaps- that is indian english for i took the shots- of the salad and shadows and all was well.

we relished the meal, the evening, the weather and the surroundings. after a little ice cream it was time to go inside and check out the latest on ecency and my favorite community- you guessed it shadow hunters.
