[ENG] Located in San Antonio de los Altos, Miranda, Venezuela; this building is one of the most renowned shopping centers in the small dormitory town.
By accessing you can find several clothing stores, a supermarket, food stores, restaurants, a bank, eyewear stores, toy stores, barbershops, flower shops, among others; It is a moderately crowded place, but it is still one of the main points of reference for being one of the bus stops, 'Los Teques' direction .

Ubicado en San Antonio de los Altos, Miranda, Venezuela; este edificio es uno de los centros comerciales más nombrados de la pequeña ciudad dormitorio.
Al acceder se pueden encontrar varias tiendas de ropa, un supermercado, tiendas de comida, restaurantes, un banco, tiendas de lentes, jugueterías, barberías, florerías, entre otras; es un lugar medianamente concurrido, pero sigue siendo uno de los principales puntos de referencia por ser una de las paradas del autobus, dirección Los Teques.
[ENG] It is a two-story building, with a mezzanine between the ground floor and floor 1, it has three elevators; the roof and basement function as private parking lots for the shopping center.
[ESP] Es un edificio de dos pisos, con una mezzanina entre la planta baja y el piso 1, cuenta con tres ascensores; la azotea y el sótano funcionan como estacionamientos privados del centro comercial.
[ENG] It was made with a beam and column system of reinforced concrete. Other materials that stand out are brick, used as cladding, which is good protection against the wind, water and the sun, and glass arranged in windows, counters, in elevators and even on the ceiling, functioning as a natural lighting system. The railings, handrails and some structures, such as the one in the central dome, are made of metal pipes.
[ESP] Se realizó con un sistema aporticado de concreto armado. Otros de los materiales que destacan son el ladrillo, utilizado como revestimiento, es buena protección contra la intemperie, y el vidrio dispuesto en ventanales, mostradores, en los ascensores e incluso en el techo, funcionando como sistema de iluminación natural. Las barandas, pasamanos y algunas estructuras, como la de la cúpula central, están hechas de tuberías metálicas.
[ENG] I have approached this building at different times to photograph, it is interesting how the weather can completely change any setting; in architecture, also in photography, light plays a fundamental role.
Many times lucky strikes occur in architecture, where almost artistic effects appear without the architect planning them, also, on many occasions these effects are previously planned, sometimes the difference is clearly perceived, other times it is difficult to know. Reflections, shadows, textures and colors are the tasks of sculpture, painting and architecture.
[ESP] Me he acercado a este edificio a distintas horas a fotografiar, es interesante como el clima puede cambiar completamente cualquier escenario; en la arquitectura, también en la fotografía, la luz juega un papel fundamental.
Muchas veces ocurren golpes suertes en la arquitectura, en donde aparecen efectos casi artísticos sin que el arquitecto los allá planeado, también, en muchas ocasiones esos efectos sí son planificados previamente, a veces la diferencia se percibe claramente, otras veces es difícil saber. Los reflejos, las sombras, las texturas y los colores son tareas de la escultura, la pintura y de la arquitectura.
[ENG] I believe that photography is a tool for architecture, both in the artistic and commercial fields; it is a good form of advertising.
There is very little information available about this building. I have tried, without success, to find out who were the architects in charge of the project.
Something that surprised me in this photo shoot was that the guards even saw me taking photos and didn't tell me anything, most of the time they tell me that I have to have a permit from the mayor's office to be able to take photos; that was a good thing.
[ESP] Creo que la fotografía es una herramienta para la arquitectura, tanto en el campo artístico como en el comercial; es buena forma de publicidad.
Hay muy poca información disponible sobre este edificio. He intentado, sin éxito, averiguar quienes fueron los arquitectos encargados del proyecto.
Algo que me sorprendió en esta sesión fotográfica, fue que los vigilantes incluso me vieron tomando fotos y no me dijeron nada, la mayoría de las veces me dicen que tengo que tener un permiso de la alcaldía para poder tomar fotos; eso fue algo bueno.
[ENG] In the corridors can be smell what restaurants are cooking, there is a pizzeria and a cookie shop, those are very good aromas.
[ESP] En los pasillos se puede oler lo que cocinan en los restaurantes, hay una pizzería y una tienda de galletas, así que son muy buenos aromas.
[ENG] Some time ago on the second floor there was a toy store that was famous for having many of the things that appeared on television, I remember when I passed in front of the window with my dad and we saw the model cars, the Mustangs, the Porsches, Ferraris; other times, my brother and I would stop by, like tourists, to see the toys.
[ESP] Hace tiempo en el piso 2 había una juguetería que era famosa por tener muchas de las cosas que aparecían en la televisión, recuerdo cuando pasaba frente a la vitrina con mi papá y veíamos los carros a escala, los Mustang, los Porsches, Ferraris; otra veces, pasábamos mi hermano y yo, como turistas, a ver los juguetes.
[ENG] Natural light abounds in the central plaza, thanks to that glass metal structure, which looks like a dome, but in reality, from its straight sides it would be, rather, a truncated pyramid.
[ESP] La luz natural abunda en la plaza central, gracias a esa estructura de metal de vidrio, que pareciera un cúpula, pero en realidad, por sus lados rectos sería, más bien, una pirámide truncada.
[ENG] San Antonio de los Altos is a place with excellent climate, the temperature remains between 16°C and 25°C, in addition, a cool breeze is usually felt at walk, unlike the capital, Caracas, where can be feel the heat and it is only 20 minutes by car.
[ESP] San Antonio de los Altos es un lugar con excelente clima, la temperatura se mantiene entre los 16°C y 25°C, además, se suele sentir un brisa fresca por donde se camina, a diferencia de la capital, Caracas, en donde se siente más el calor y queda tan solo a 20 minutos en carro.
[ENG] The last few months I have been photographing quite a few reflections, the Shadow Hunters community contest, run by @annephilbrick, has been a good motivation, a lot of fun and has helped me to sharpen my eye.
[ESP] Los últimos meses he estado fotografiando bastantes reflejos, el concurso de la comunidad Shadow Hunters, llevado a cabo por @ annephilbrick, ha sido un buena motivación, muy divertido y me ha ayudado a afilar el ojo.
[ENG] This truncated pyramid has 42 sides, and ends in a circle supported by a cross.
[ESP] Tiene 42 lados esta pirámide truncada, y remata en un circulo sostenido por una cruz.
[ENG] On the façade can be distinguish some clear geometries, on the ground floor and mezzanine there is a long row of empty rectangles, a double height effect, while on floors 1 and 2 the openings seem rather square in proportions, I think it's good the combination of heights, highlighting the ground floor as an inviting access. In the center, just above the main entrance, are the balconies, extensions shaped like a section of a great circle, a figure that is also found in the skylight, inside the building.
[ESP] En la fachada se pueden distinguir algunas geometrías claras, en la planta baja y mezzanina hay una larga fila de rectángulos vacíos, efecto de la doble altura, mientras que en los pisos 1 y 2 las aperturas parecen más bien de proporciones cuadradas, me parece buena la combinación de alturas, destacando la planta baja como un acceso que invita. En el centro, justo encima de la entrada principal, se encuentran los balcones, extensiones con forma de la sección de un gran circulo, figura que también se encuentra en la claraboya, dentro del edificio.
[ENG] There are languages in architecture related to modesty and conceit, sometimes the environment requires a modest building, a monument, but other times a modest and sober language is required in architecture to guarantee the harmony of the places.
[ESP] Hay lenguajes en la arquitectura relacionados a la modestia y la soberbia, algunas veces el entorno exige un edificio llamativo, un monumento, pero otras veces se requiere un lenguaje modesto y sobrio en la arquitectura para avalar la armonía de los lugares.
[ENG] The palm trees in the building's landscaping remind us that we live in a tropical country, even though San Antonio de los Altos is a mountain city, we have the beaches so close, sometimes we forget it.
[ESP] Las palmeras en el paisajismo del edificio nos recuerdan que vivimos en un país tropical, aun siendo San Antonio de los Altos una ciudad de la montaña, tenemos las playas tan cerca, a veces lo olvidamos.
[ENG] I have lived in this city since I was born, 28 years ago, and since I am aware this building has always been there, according to my family, Galería Las Américas must be the same age.
[ESP] Vivo en esta ciudad desde que nací, hace 28 años, y desde que tengo consciencia este edificio siempre ha estado allí, según mi familia, Galería Las Américas debe tener mi misma edad.
[ENG] I believe that the reality of photography is always separated from the reality of places. Places are not only the physical distribution of matter, they are the situations of a certain moment, the sounds, the aromas, the temperature, the people passing by, the rain, in short, there are many things that cannot be seen in an image.
[ESP] Creo que la realidad de la fotografía esta siempre separada de la realidad de los lugares. Los lugares no son solo la distribución física de la materia, son las situaciones de un momento determinado, los sonidos, los aromas, la temperatura, las personas que pasan, la lluvia, en fin, son muchas cosas las que no se pueden ver en una imagen.
[ENG] There is a facade of the building that faces a small street, a shortcut, through that entrance is the supermarket 'Fresco Market', this place represented something new because it was one of the first supermarkets that work 24 hours a day.
[ESP] Hay una fachada del edificio que da hacia una calle pequeña, un atajo. Pasé varios días intentando fotografiar esta zona bien iluminada, ya que en la mañana no le pega el sol a ese lado.
[ENG] On the same facade is the supermarket 'Fresco Market', this place represented something new in its beginnings, because it was one of the first supermarkets to work 24 hours a day. I think they did the incorporation very well by modifying the building creating a covered ceiling access, they used a tensile-structure that provides a good shade to the place.
[ESP] En esa misma fachada esta el supermercado 'Fresco Market', este local representó algo novedoso en sus inicios, porque fue uno de los primeros supermercados en trabajar las 24 horas.Creo que hicieron muy bien la incorporación al modificar el edificio creando una acceso techado, utilizaron una tenso-estructura que aporta una buena sombra al lugar.
[ENG] Galería Las Américas is a building that will always be in my memories and the regards of all the citizens who have visited it to go buy scale cars, cut their hair, get money at the ATM, eat or just go for a walk.
