Cologne Cathedral - German architectural masterpiece (12 photos)

Hello everybody! During my trip to Germany, I decided to visit the beautiful city of Cologne. It is an ancient city with a rich history and a population of two million. There are many architectural works of art in Cologne, but the most important of them is the Cologne Cathedral. This building impressed me, now I want to share my impressions in this post.

Most often, acquaintance with the cities begins from the station. This is how my acquaintance with German Cologne began. Leaving the station, I was amazed at the beauty of the surrounding area. But all the beauty faded before the main attraction of the city - the Cathedral.

I was impressed by what I saw and decided to take a closer look at this place. The building of the cathedral looks majestic. It's high. In order to see the top, you must raise your head to the sky. But in order to see every detail of the cathedral, you will need many days.

The cathedral is 157 meters high and was once the tallest building on the planet. It took a long time to build and will probably never be completed. Many legends and physical difficulties contribute to this.

Cologne Cathedral won't ever be finished, this building is too old and too big. There are always some parts that need to be restored or cleaned. And the Cologne Cathedral used to be white. Today, the Cathedral of Kelsk is the leader of one of the highest churches in the world. It takes the third place.

It turned gray due to pollution and weather. I was told an interesting fact that the two towers are not of the same height, it is better to see it from the other side of the Rhine in the distance. The North Tower is several centimeters taller than the South Tower.

At the top of the Kelsk triangle there is an observation deck 100 meters above the ground. And behind the cathedral is the famous Ludwig Museum. Surprisingly, this place is a hub for tourists and cultural treasures.

During the Roman Empire, the site of the cathedral was the center of religions in which Christians lived. Later, high churches were erected on this site. This place has an amazing history and this place is amazing.

Currently, you simply cannot get into the cathedral. In order to see the interior, it is necessary to be vaccinated and present a vaccination passport with water inside. At the time of filming, I was not vaccinated, so I was not allowed inside. Very sorry.

Despite the fact that there are many homeless people around the cathedral, this does not negate its importance. Cologne Cathedral attracts not only tourists, but also all the most important events of the city and western Germany. For example, processions or rallies.

In order to appreciate the greatness of this place, you need to see this place with your own eyes. This is a place of power where you can spend many hours looking at every detail.

I was surprised by the worldwide flash mob that took place right in front of the Cologne Cathedral during my travels. The animator created a big picture and invited people from all countries to unite, because humanity is one family. Another name for the Cologne cathedral is the Imko-Catholic Cathedral of Saints Peter and St. Mary.

All photos were taken by me on the camera of the Xiaomi smartphone. Thanks to those who read and support.
