What was the first impression you had when you read the title of this post?
Did your mind go to how much it will cost to actually purchase a lie from someone in a store or market?
If that's the case you're not correct!
"Cost" in the title of this post means consequence, or repercussion. So, it will be better to rephrase the title as "WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES/REPERCUSSIONS OF LYING"
Lying can be very expensive and it can cost you a lot of money, time, people and even your life.
I use to have a friend who is also a colleague at my former workplace. She's very flamboyant and likes to look more sophisticated than she can afford. She orders for expensive food and drinks anytime we hangout and when we try to advice her to spend wisely she says we should not worry about her. We were concerned about her lifestyle because we receive the same salary. She is fond of requesting for loan from the office to fund her lifestyle and also begging for funds from fellow colleagues.
It is alarming why someone would want to impress people with what they do not have. It is more annoying when the people who you are trying to impress know your status. You keep lying about your life and eventually you'd be the one to weep in the corner of your room when you realize how foolish you've been behaving.
In a relationship, we have seen and heard relationships of over 5 years crashing because of a single lie. Yes! A lie can be that expensive and the consequences are not always appealing. Couples are advised to be sincere and honest with themselves. Let your spouse know about the kind of business you do, your health status, your financial status, your lifestyle - do not hide anything. The moment a truth is unveiled it may be quite difficult to fix what has been destroyed by the stream of lies.

See, change your circle if you notice you'd have to spend more than you can afford when you roll with them. Some friends would want to feel among and decide to break their bank for a trip or a sit out at a fancy restaurant. It is good to apply wisdom at all times.
The cost of a lie is high and should be avoided by all means.
