The barriers struggled to contain the mounting excitement of the eager crowd. The opening of the exhibition "Living Canvases" had attracted the jet set, no one wanted to miss the event of the year, being there was essential to be able to talk about it in the future and give their own bored and superficial opinion. The press and a few privileged spectators were the first to be seated in the center of the large oval hall. All around was dark, even the lights above the spectators went out, for almost a minute everyone was immersed in nothingness, in that condition every sense was reset. Suddenly a spot light illuminated in the center of the main wall a large golden frame suspended in the void. A sound of heels echoed in the room and each step ticked like a timer of a bomb ready to explode. A woman in a long dress and black shawl stood with her back to the frame.

Le transenne faticavano a contenere la montante eccitazione della folla avida di novità. L'inaugurazione della mostra "Tele viventi" aveva richiamato l'alta società, nessuno voleva mancare all'evento dell'anno, esserci era fondamentale per poterne sparlare in futuro e darne la propria annoiata e superficiale opinione. La stampa e pochi privilegiati spettatori furono fatti accomodare per primi al centro del grande salone ovale. Tutt'attorno era buio, anche le luci al di sopra degli spettatori si spensero, per quasi un minuto tutti furono immersi nel nulla, in quella condizione ogni senso veniva azzerato e resettato. Improvvisamente un luce spot illuminò al centro della parete principale una grande cornice dorata sospesa nel vuoto. Un rumore di tacchi rimbombò nella sala ed ogni passo ticchettava come un timer di una bomba pronta a deflagrare. Una donna in abito lungo e scialle nero si posizionò di spalle all'interno della cornice.
