It's here! Okay, technically in my little corner of the world, there are still a couple more hours left of July, but I wanted to get this post out now since #HivePUD has arrived in other parts of the globe!

But before I get started, I have to shout out with some wicked exciting news! Yesterday, @hivebuzz put out a post called Hive Power Up Day - Let's grow together! in which the detailed the most awesomesauce new Power Up Day reward. Thanks to an idea of @jeanlucsr's, there is now a HIVEBUZZ BADGE for everyone who (according to the post) -

1. As per the initial project rules, you will have to power-up HIVE on the 1st day of any month.
   IMPORTANT:
   HiveBuzz will use UTC date and time to validate when your powered-up. Therefore, check your timezone and convert your local time to UTC before powering up!
    
2. To make the badge more valuable for those who managed to get it, we decided to set a minimum threshold. Sorry for the smart opportunists, but powering-up 0.001 HIVE won't make the trick. This means that you will have to power-up at least 100 HIVE!

While I knew, thanks to @jeanlucsr teasing that he had another wicked surprise for #HivePUD during the first ever Twitter #HiveChat (which are now happening every Tuesday) I had no idea it was going to be that incredible. Thank you again to everyone who worked so hard to make this possible - I can't wait to "see" the look on @streetstyle's face when he gets back and finds out the Power Up Day badge is a thing! 😍

What is Hive Power Up Day?

Hive Power Up Day has been taking place on the first day of every month since it's inception on that other blockchain over a year ago. There's a great old post from @sndbox that explains all the reasons you personally benefit from powering up. For the community as a whole, it's a great way to show support for our blockchain home by staking (aka powering up) Hive and adding to its value.

What does it require?

In @streetstyle's words ...

On the first day of the month...

• ...we ask that everyone who can do so, power up any amount of HIVE they are holding on the first of the month.

• ... we ask accounts that are currently powering down to please pause the powerdown during the hours of the first of the month.

• ... we ask that those who are trading and/or selling Hive, not to do so during the hours of the first of the month (and if possible, cancel any type of sell order on any exchanges for the same hours).

What are the rules to win prizes for HivePUD?

Again, in @streetstyle's words (with my changes edited in)

MUST have a reputation score BELOW 70.00 ( so 69.99 is good & Can participate.) AND more than 100 HIVE POWER (prior to HivePUD) BUT LESS than 8000 HIVE Power.

MUST have a reputation score of 39 & ABOVE (so rank of 38.99 will Not Win)

MUST Power Up HIVE COIN on AUGUST 1st, 2020

MUST make a post about your POWER UP on AUGUST 1st with the tag HivePUD . It can be as simple as "I powered up X amount of HIVE COIN" to a simple picture/screenshot of your Power Up and posted to your HIVE blog, or it could be a super long dissertation on HIVE Power. IMPORTANT:use HivePUD hash tag so that I can be sure to see them.

The winners MUST meet all 4 requirements , and it will be based on the Biggest HIVE Power Up PERCENTAGE, not the biggest Power Up. This means that it will be based on the ratio between your current amount of HIVE Power and the amount you power up on August 1st.

For Example:

If you have 1000 HIVE Power already powered up prior to AUGUST 1, and on AUGUST 1 you complete steps 1-5 with a 100 HIVE Power Up,

and

another HIVE member has 300 HIVE Powered up prior to AUGUST 1, and on AUGUST 1st Powers Up 60 HIVE Coin, then this 2nd user would be winning with a 20% power up versus the first example with a bigger power up but smaller percentage of only 10% based on their account.

Last month I discovered that the amazing @victoriabsb started a #HPUD initiative for the #HiveVenezuela community (and I believe a few other country specific ones have popped up as well). It was such a success that not only is she doing it again for August, she's expanded it to the Hispanic community at large!

Coming Up Next
