If you don't know what is Ginamos it is just a fermented anchovies fish that is well known in the Visayas and some parts of the Mindanao region.

A short story on how it made us
one of our favourite snacks. Being raised in the province particularly in mountain areas we are very far from the market. Since we are far from the market we usually save some long term foods and one of those are that we call Ginamos and since it is a mountain and has wide spaces for crops we produce many products one of those is a very well known snack that we call Saging in our dialect and commonly known for many as a banana, you can make a lot of fun snack out of banana but in this blog, we are simply eating a banana with some fermented fish.

By that, we came up to pair it together to make it a snack or maybe it's just traditionally paired already since the old days.

Ginamos are also good to pair with other crops like stewed sweet potato and cassava and also we can it this with rice as viand.

That's our life in the mountain before so as much as some of my relatives from the city who took time to visit, they always ask to have that kind of snack and sometimes they are asking to bring some on their way back home.

How to make Ginamos tastier

  • Normally Ginamos taste salty so to make it tastier you can add citrus, tomatoes, onion and chillies or simply you can just add vinegar if those are not available.
