STREET ART #88 – Escaping Earth (Kristiansand, Norway)

01.jpg

Hånes is a district located about 6 km east of the center. Right at the junction of the main road there is a Hydro Texaco petrol station. This winter and spring I have been to Hånes several times. That's when I noticed that this part of town also got street art. The artist is the city's own - Terje Andersen.

The artist has decorated a sign that stands right by the benches at a petrol station. The sign is placed so close to these benches that it was difficult to get good photos. Both sides of the sign are decorated with the same theme under the title is «The Escape».

Two astronauts - one on each side of the sign, hover between waste and plastic bottles. They look like they are making their way out. It seems that the growing waste problem, especially plastic, is becoming such a problem that humans are fleeing from earth to space to get away form it. At least these two guys.

The other astronaut on the backside of the sign.

Check out his instagram. There are photos of the prosess of the astronauts. https://www.instagram.com/terjeandersenart/
