Prepping A Stop-Motion Film // Inspired By A Very Hungry Caterpillar

It's been a productive evening building sets for our upcoming animation film. We have been exploring watercolors. Quite similar to the works of Eric Carle (The Very Hungry Caterpillar).

At first the plan was to build physical micro sets. It was proving a little too complicated for our small team, managing multiple moving parts so I made the decision to create all the assets and photograph them on a green screen and peice together the animated world like a puzzle.

We can take all the painted elements and duplicate or stretch and build long backdrops not to different from those of a platformer game like Mario Bros.

The film is a commission for Forth Valley Rape Crisis Centre and it's main focus is encouraging victims to seek help and get better. The soundtrack was composed by Posable Action Figures with Katya Mansell from The Violent Kind, both established musicians and artists from Scotland.
