This beautiful flowering plant is known as Vinca. Vinca is an annual shrub native to Madagascar, but has spread to other tropical regions. Its scientific name is Catharanthus roseus Don. In my country Indonesia, Vinca is known as Kembang Tapak Dara. Vinca is also known as Periwinkle.

Vinca likes open places, but there is a possibility of growing in a somewhat sheltered place as well. Its height can reach 0.2 -1 meters. The leaves are oval, green in color, arranged pinnately. The leaves are about 2 - 6 centimeters long, 1 - 3 centimeter wide, and the petioles are very short. The stems and leaves contain white latex. Its flower petals have various colors, there are pink red, white, purple and some others.
