Green Mangoes, Anyone? (colored pencil sketch)

Earlier today, we harvested some mangoes from the mango tree behind our house. I'll be talking about that in another post, but these mangoes somehow inspired me to practice sketching them using watercolor pencils. And so, I took two of them as reference and started sketching.

And as you can see in the result, I messed up. haha But it's okay, we can always learn from our mistakes. :) Let me show you how I came up with this.

Above are photos of my reference mangoes and my not-so-clean sketch pad. Yes, I used sketch pad but it was a mistake... you'll learn why later on.

My sketch supposed to end like this, but I didn't like looking at the very visible color difference. I thought it would have been better to just use pencil for this sketch and emphasize on the shading. So, I decided to blend the watercolor pencils with water which was a wrong move.

The colors blended quite well, but I used it on my sketchpad, so the paper was not suitable to put water on. It became wrinkly and almost made a hole on the artwork. haha I'm so sorry. XD

I still took a selfie with my not-so-happy face with it, though. I'll try using the right paper next time. Better yet, I'll just paint it with watercolor rather than with the pencils. Still, it was a good lesson to learn from. ;)

I'll end this post here. Until next time!
