I stumbled upon the photo of a bird called the Bali Myna. It was absolutely stunning. I shied away from painting it and began the sketch of a pigeon and then the sketch of a different bird, but my mind wandered back to the the former bird.
The Bali Myna is a critically endangered animal with only about 100 adult birds in its specie in the world today. It can be found in Indonesia. It’s a truly beautiful bird, I do hope it never goes extinct.
PROCESS!
Materials: Winsor & Newton Watercolor, Van Gogh watercolor, Sinoart sketchbook
I wasn’t too sure how to combine both the character & the bird, so I settled for it resting on her shoulders
Next a painted a gradient of greens and yellows with a touch of blue for the background. After this, I proceeded to paint in the face and the dress
I used a light shade of purple for the bird after which I detailed the girl’s hair
