The tale as old as time,

Boy meets girl, girl meets boy,

They fall in love and they live happily ever after or so they think.

Jane always thought that Adam was her true love, he had saved her from the monstrous witch of a stepmother which she lived with and even gave her the true love’s first kiss, he fought battles just to have her but after a month of being whisked away by Adam, reality set in and she realized that she didn’t even know who she married or what she had bargained for.

Yes, she was a princess living on a beautiful island and she was every girl's envy but she didn’t have a life of her own and she felt more lonely than she had ever felt in her life, she had no friends which she thought would change when she left her stepmother and she had no freedom because she always had to leave the castle with a guard or two.

Even the prince wasn’t all she had imagined, he was sweet no doubt but there were times that he was also authoritative and felt like he could boss her around and even their moments on their matrimonial bed felt empty and lacking because she had expected so much.

She often thought about running away but wouldn’t she be considered selfish if she did? Every woman in the kingdom wanted Adam and she was lucky to have been chosen so maybe she could just manage and things could get better.

A year went by and things felt worse, he hardly had time for her and the heirs weren’t coming forth so she could at least be occupied. She would often sit by her window and dream of the days where she could bake a cake and sweep the floor and it felt like simpler times.

Jane felt like she couldn’t live like this anymore so she gave herself two options, one which "was telling Adam how she felt" and "the other was running away". After thinking about it for a week, she finally decided to let her prince know how she felt, worst-case scenario was he would get mad and throw her out which would be better than where she was.

The day she planned on speaking to him, she felt tensed and scared. She thought of every possible scenario that would happen and her heartbeat could be heard from a mile away.

She gathered the courage and said to him “Adam, I am so unhappy” and at that moment she poured her heart out, she looked at his face expecting anger but she saw him sigh in relief and said in response “me too”, he had felt the same way and didn't know how to tell her so he spent time running away and giving her space.

They spent the night talking about solutions to their problems and getting to know each other and for the first time ever it felt it was going to indeed be a happily ever after.

Tale as old as time,

Boy meets girl, girl meets boy and they lived happily ever after.
