Weekend Island Hopping At Mabad-on Reef of Alcoy, Cebu

Hello there Hivers, it's weekend again, hope everyone will enjoy their rest day after long weekdays of work. Speaking of weekends I and my wife together with my brother-in-law decided to have an island-hopping in the Mabad-on Reef of Alcoy.

Mabad-on reef is located just a few meters away from the well-known Tingko beach of Alcoy. It is actually a small island but completely submerged during high tide and visibly exposed when low tide.

As we arrived in Mabad-on reef there is an area that seems like a lagoon and has white fine sand on its floor. At the moment we arrived the water is still high tide that levels almost on our neckline which we enjoyed anyway for we had snorkeling on that area.

For about 30 to 40 minutes after, the water was completely leveled on our waist, as the boatman told us that the water level will gradually go even lower until the entire Mabad-on reef will completely show up.

In the above photo, you can see at my far back that the mainland is visible where the Tingko beach is located as well.

And the boatman advised us to transfer to another area of the reef that is fairly deep so the boat won't be stuck on the reef as the water is getting lower over time. So we did another snorkeling on that portion of the reef. Here are some of our underwater photos.

We really did enjoy our weekend after stressful weekdays of work. I think we all deserved to have one at least, so we don't get burnt out from pressure and stress.
