A hazardous weekend

Fire too close for comfort

Threes! Everything goes in threes.

That is what I’ve heard since forever, but it took on a whole new turn recently.

We were doing some work on the balcony so my BAE removed the door and put it carefully to one side, making sure that it would not fall, but up came a sudden huge gusty and blew it it down, the glass window part landed squarely on the tin of water proofing that he was using. Smash. Later he went to shut the door, with the plastic sheet now instead of a glass window, and the handle came off, broken as well.

No problem he decided to bath the dogs before the forecast cold weather hit. It’s an outside shower with a lovely big round rain shower head. He went to close the heavy glass shower door quickly, while holding a very unimpressed and reluctant dog, but it came off the rail, fell against the shower head and broke it off. So moving on to making dinner and the glass lid of a pot we have had for thirty odd years fell directly onto the handle on the top of the pot lid, causing a similar explosion to a car window being hit by a spark plug during a smash and grab. It literally exploded all over the kitchen.

The showerhead

Well, that was all in one day, in three to my Bae.

So much for everything happening in threes - this was just an encore.

Luckily our house didn't burn down - the fire was pretty close.

This is up at our braai (barbecue area) under my big Bluegum.

There was not a lot of damage to our side as we had already watered down heavily. It’s still smoking and eyes still burning and house stinky - but we are safe and that's what counts.

Not a great way to spend a weekend
