Is Hand-poured Silver A Really Good Investment? WINNER of 5 Hive Giveaway

I've been buying hand-poured silver from the beginning.

I collect it, I enjoy it, and a way to support my favorite silver pourers.

But is it a good investment?

Price

The overall arching thing here is the price... the premiums.

We need to recognize the fact the hand-poured silver is going to have premium! And that is pretty much what investing in hand-poured silver is all about...whether or not it can hold and can grow the premium that you paid for it over time.

There is so much to choose from... shapes, weights, sizes. There are a thousand varieties out there! It can be 3-dimensional, they can be hallmarked or regular bullion bars... each one carrying a different level of premium to it.

And each takes time to prepare... each ending up with a high premium.

Branding

Does high premiums stop it from being a good investment?

There are many factors in whether or not premiums are worth paying. One of them is branding. Branding is so important. There is a huge uptrend in the number of people producing their own hand-poured silver!

If you are specifically wanting to invest in hand-poured silver, perhaps you should consider those bigger brands. If you walked inside a local coin shop and you ask for an AG Ender bar, they probably say..."Hmm... who?" But if you looked for a YPS bar or an MKBrz, they would readily know what you are there for, because these bigger pourers have exposure worldwide.

Branding is important if you are considering hand-poured silver as an investment. You may want to release your investment and sell your pieces. And when you do, you want them recognizable, and be in demand.

When I purchase hand-poured silver, all I can do is hope that someday the pourer will be recognizable.

Pleasurable purchase

You have to look at hand-poured silver as a pleasurable purchase. You may not necessarily have it as the foundation of your stack. It should not be the whole weight of your stack.

And perhaps if you should have a small amount of hand-poured silver that you would enjoy, it would be a lot better in the end.

Certainly, if you don't get your money back for your hand-poured silver, you probably won't be bothered as much... because, at the end of the day,

it is something nice,

maybe you have it sitting at your desk,

and you like it!
