πŸŽ‚ πŸ’₯ Three Years on the Hive Blockchain! πŸ’₯ πŸŽ‚

Today I am celebrating my three year anniversary on the Hive blockchain! Exactly three years ago today, I decided to "jump in" and establish an online profile here. Prior to making that decision, it was a step I had said would never happen.

That is, I am not now or ever have been on Facebook, Twitter, ?...? and still maintain that I almost certainly never will be.

Since posting my introduction on 14 May 2018, though, it has been an absolutely wonderful experience "in here." I would never have imagined my "journey" through this "virtual world" would involve engaging with others all over the world and what that experience has meant to me.

It is always nice to get these "milepost" awards from @hivebuzz.

I got this in August of 2020, since this is my "official" anniversary. It all began long, long ago, in a land far, far away ...

Source: The "Genesis Block" of @roleerob's Steem Hive blockchain "journey"

Here is where it all began. And why, dear reader, you and I ever "met." Hmmm. 22.493 STEEM HIVE ... As all can see, I started out from humble beginnings. If one chooses to go into the blockchain and look, my first transactions were DCA steps into this new "virtual world" ...

What I am going to do to mark this occasion is put together a complete picture of what this year has looked like, from the point-of-view of my posting. This post will serve as a key reference for me, from now on. And it will always mean a great deal to me, given what it represents.

First Two Years - Looking back ...

Before getting into year three, here is a reference to all of the work I put in years one and two. It highlights the value I have added to our Hive blockchain.

πŸŽ‚ πŸ’₯ Two Years on the Hive Blockchain! πŸ’₯ πŸŽ‚

I celebrated my 2nd anniversary by again creating a complete picture of the year. Just as I had done after my 1st year - I built an index of every post.

πŸ’₯ One Year on the Steem Blockchain! πŸ’₯ Part 1 ...

I celebrated my 1st anniversary by creating a complete picture of what the year had looked like. I built an index of every post and it has served as an invaluable reference ever since.

πŸ’₯ One Year on the Steem Blockchain! πŸ’₯ Part 2 ...

In creating my 1st anniversary post, I managed to break Steem! 😧 I got a dreaded "Exceeds maximum length (65 KB)" error! πŸ˜• So ... Had to break it up.

At the end of each of these posts, I put together a brief "Executive Summary" of what I had accomplished.

Recreating the Executive Summary at the end of my 2nd Anniversary post:

Here is what I said then:

Okay, short of my original objective of writing a post a week. And, with a second year objective of working on writing shorter posts, looks like I failed ... 😏

And also this:

Am I just adding value by writing my own posts? And not adding value to the work of others by looking into and commenting on their posts?

These numbers speak for themselves. It has always meant something to me that comments add value to the work of others. I have been complimented a number of times over the quality of the effort I put into this. That is very unlikely to change (in spite of the negative impact on them of the EIP changes of HF 21 / 22)

Recreating the Executive Summary at the end of my 1st Anniversary post:

Here is what I said then, about what those numbers represented, when comparing the value I had added to our Hive blockchain, in my first year:

Hmmm. I wonder what the average number of words are in other Steemian posts? πŸ€” What I do know, is that in our PIFC community founder @thedarkhorse has set the minimum number of words in a "quality content" post to be 200. If I was producing posts like that, I would've ended up with 805 posts! 😏

Even raising that standard up and doubling that to an average of 400 words per post, I still would've ended up with 403 posts - more than one per day, 7 days a week. πŸ˜‰

Well, with that, my first year is "in the bag" and time will tell how I do in my second year! πŸ‘‹

With that, let's see what I accomplished in my third year ...

Adventures in Traveling

While they take a lot of work, there are no posts I have enjoyed writing on our Hive blockchain more than recreating for my dear readers and doing my part to help the great HaveYouBeenThere community:

Travelogue 8: Spectacular Flaming Gorge in Utah

When visiting these powerful examples of man's engineering genius, there are few better than this remote dam on the border of Wyoming and Utah and the lake behind it.

Travelogue 7: Back in Time at Spirit West River Lodge

You truly go back in time here in this hideaway in a remote part of the country, with wonderful people as your hosts.

Travelogue 6: Snowy Range Scenic Byway in Wyoming! πŸŒ„

On a remarkable day in Southeastern Wyoming, we not only got to see spectacular views like this, but also a mountain lion and a moose!

These only scratch the surface of some of the traveling adventures I had in 2020 and early 2021. I have a lot of pictures and notes from them, when I have time to resume my travel adventure posting ...

Reward received on Travelogue 7: Back in Time at Spirit West River Lodge post!

Since they seem to be well received and rewarded, hopefully that will be sooner rather than later!

Finance and Investing

On my 3 year "journey," on our Hive blockchain, I have made no bigger (and more profitable!) decision than the one in late June 2020 to go my own way and get away from the "echo chamber" of the main Hive blockchain and focus, instead, on some of its "second layer" communities and tokens.

Like the LeoFinance community and its LEO, WLEO, BLEO, and CUB tokens:

Expensive $ Lesson: Source of Harvest Failure on Cub Finance

Details a very expensive DIY problem-solving exercise, along with the valuable opportunity it represents to us all!

Cub Finance: DeFi for the Masses! πŸš€

Launched on 8 March 2021, this post talks about Cub Finance and the door it opens up, for many who have never experienced the remarkable economic power of the "DeFi," to get involved in it. Which I thankfully chose to do on Day 1!

Introducing Gemini's Cryptopedia and RenVM

Introduced Gemini's new info resource that day I learned about it. Upon finding crypto RenVM was covered, introduced that as well, as my latest investment.

"Dry Powder" and the LHP Token!

Determined to never again "blindly" power up all HIVE, explored this experimental token offering an attractive, alternative solution!

Is the Future Bright in Hive's "Second Layer?"

2 months after my first post on making a decision between further investments in LEO and / or BRO, I wrote this follow-up. On the decision to invest in both and why I am glad I did!

"Wrapped" Tokens are the Future?

My "contrarian" view of the speculative "feeding frenzy" surrounding the use of "wrapped" tokens in pursuing the potential of DeFi opportunities.

"Macro" Trading! A Success Story?

Not a trader, by any means, this post details the success I enjoyed in "macro" trading for 5,000 HIVE tokens, from revenues powering down on Steem.

Money Goes Where Treated Best!?

With a decision to make re: where to invest future funds, in choosing between BRO and LEO, I take a closer look at this well-known bit of investment advice. Should we consider whether it really holds true for the Hive blockchain?

πŸ’² Your Money Making Money! πŸ’° Sound Good?

How can we apply the "eighth wonder of the world" to the new BRO token of the relaunched Man Cave community? This post addresses that question, along with touching on some of the vital discipline needed for financial independence.

Land of Leo: My First LeoDex Transaction!?

With discretionary $s from powering down on the Steem, I decided to invest some of it into more LEO tokens. Here is my experience with LeoDex in doing it.

If you have not yet done so, dear reader, I highly recommend you consider a similar adventure in exploring the rich diversity of "second layer" tokens on our Hive blockchain.

If there is a long-term viable future for it, I think it will be due to the continued development and growth of these communities! Not the main blockchain ...

Man Cave Project

As mentioned above, in June and July of 2021, I made some very important decisions about my participation in the "second layer" of the Hive blockchain.

Next to LeoFinance, the other community into which I invested the most time and $$ was the Man Cave Project of @raymondspeaks.

Here are the posts I wrote, for that community:

God Help Amy Coney Barrett!

In my personal opinion, President Trump's selection of this woman to the Supreme Court and subsequently successfully fighting the battle to have her confirmed to it, was his single greatest achievement.

"Congress Couldn't Vote to make Mother Teresa ..."

With the death of the iconic "RBG," took the opportunity to discuss the significance of her replacement and the balance of power in America.

American Elections 2020, Voter Fraud and Blockchain Technology

Was I prophetic choosing to write on the topic of voter fraud in July 2020? Given what transpired? You be the judge ...

Yo! Got BRO? Oh no ... 😞 Go! πŸ‘‡

Once having discovered the Man Cave Project, I decided I should do my part to promote it. This post was part of that effort.

Testimonial: Gin Stephens and her Powerful "Delay, Don't Deny" Lifestyle

Is there anything more valuable, in this life, than our health? And is there anything more important to our health than what we eat? What about how we go about eating it?

This testimonial post is about a family member who made a remarkable discovery. And details the transformational effect on their life!

What? Peanuts in the Rockies!? 😲 Story of a plant ...

The Man Cave! New Hive Community and First BRO Tokens ...

How does any "new chapter" in our life begin? Are there ever really any coincidences in our lives? In this post, you will read my story behind the discovery of The Man Cave, a relaunched community for "man stuff!"

Hive Blockchain

Hard to be on the Hive blockchain and not be aware of all that is going on which affect all of us. Like many, from time to time, I write about my thoughts. Including my now only occasional updates on how my personal "journey" is going:

Update, Month 30: 😲 Is @roleerob an Orca!? 🦈 Well ... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

On October 9th, after evaluating my portfolio on the Hive blockchain, I had a lot of fun writing this post explaining how I was now an "Orca!" πŸ˜‰

Hi from Hive and the American West!

At the invitation of my good friend, @livinguktaiwan, I investigated her new initiative, liked what I saw, and help with my own post in support of it!

Community PUD: +450 HP for HivePUD on 1 September 2020

In this final PUD, for the 3rd quarter of 2020, I had powered up a total of +3,500 Hive, which represented a Hive Power increase of 30% from July 1st. Not too bad!

Community PUD: +1,800 HP for HivePUD on 1 August 2020

Spurred on by some "macro" trading gains and news of the new "Power Bee" HivePUD badge, led me to another major power-up!

PeakD Review: Changing our All-Important Keys to the Hive Blockchain!

Rule #1 of the "CryptoVerse"? - "You are your own bank!" Changing from Steem to Hive, decided to change my keys, via my favorite UI, PeakD. And then wrote an illustrated tutorial on how to do it!

Community PUD: 1,200 HP for HivePUD on 1 July 2020

Since announcing I was powering "down and out" on Steem, I had completed it by EOM June. July 1st then seemed like a good join PUD for only the 2nd time ...

Tech Aide: Converting Steem to Hive for an American …

In the aftermath of Steem's HF 23 and my resulting decision to powerdown for the first time ever, there was just the "small detail" of exactly how I was going to pull off the stake transfer!? πŸ€·β€β™‚πŸ€·β€β™€

Update, Month 24: πŸ’₯ 2nd Annual Highlights Edition! πŸ’₯

Memorial Day 2020: Remembering and Powering Down on Steem

Covered the importance of this great American holiday to my family and linked in the reference to "war" on COVID-19, as well as my decision to power down on Steem with its "war" on Hive ...

Other

A number of the remaining posts have been categories of their own in the past, but I haven't written enough of them lately to justify a separate section.

So ... Here they are!

Lead Image Title, Link, & Summary
Reflections: Glorious Day in the High Country!

Got an invitation from one of my children to spend a day out in the high country, so made the most of it. Among many delights, got to see a young bull moose!

COVID-19: Uprooted ...

With the growing impact on my own family, wrote my 1st post in a long while about the "war" on COVID-19. Tied it to the idea of a mighty tree being uprooted and what force that takes!

Executive Summary

So, putting a "wrap" on this ... @roleerob is unapologetically a "numbers guy," dear reader. Closing out my third year on our Hive blockchain, what does the "big picture" look like? What value have I contributed to it?

Plus an additional 3,263 words on this post ... πŸ˜‰

Okay, short of my original objective of writing a post a week. And, once again, with a third year objective of working on writing shorter posts, looks like I failed ... πŸ˜πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Am I just adding value by writing my own posts? And not adding value to the work of others by looking into and commenting on their posts?

This is somewhat dated and there is no information to check this on Hive of which I am aware. Although it can't be exact, the numbers speak for themselves, in answering the question. Few can show similar results in their effort to engage with others ...

________________________

Overall, even as a "part-timer, I feel very good about the value I add to our Hive blockchain." With that, my third year is "in the bag." Time will tell how I do in my fourth year. I am not going anywhere! πŸ‘‹

Closing Thoughts

Without apology, dear reader, I have always made it clear I came here as an investor. That is very unlikely to change as my primary focus and it shows this year.

As part of that, I made a huge decision this year to get away from the "echo chamber" of the main Hive blockchain and focus on "second layer" communities, like the LeoFinance community. The best decision I have made so far, on my "journey" in this "virtual world!"

With that, "onward and upward," into Year 4! I’d love to hear any feedback you may be inspired to provide.

Until "next time," all the best to you for a better tomorrow, as we all work together to build up our Hive Communities and add increasing value to our Hive blockchain! πŸ‘ 😊

Respectfully,
